The Raspar system existed within the Tragan Cluster. The cluster itself was located in the New Territories section of the Outer Rim Territories.
The system of Raspar initially appeared in The Essential Atlas, a 2009 reference book. Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry authored the book, and they placed the system in grid square N-5. The system's name was derived from the mention of the moon Raspar-6. This moon was referenced in the 1993 publication Monsters and Aliens from George Lucas, a book that combines creature designs and photographs from various projects by George Lucas, the creator of Star Wars, with original text written by Bob Carrau.
Monsters and Aliens from George Lucas describes Raspar-6 as a terrestrial moon where an atomic blast occurred at some point in its history. A weather forecast that followed—referring to Raspar-6 as a "delinquent moon"—for the West Fissure region of an agricultural planet predicted that the explosion would impact the planet's atmosphere. This impact could potentially cause months-long climate changes in the West Fissure area. Leland Chee, an employee of Lucasfilm who maintains the Holocron continuity database, has stated that information found within Monsters and Aliens from George Lucas is considered non-canonical within the Star Wars Legends continuity.
