Gorak Khzam

Gorak Khzam, a male Rodian, once belonged to the Sabiador Slavers. He later became the security officer, and subsequently the first officer, of the vessel known as the FarStar in 8 ABY.

Life Story

Involvement with Slavers

Khzam's origins lie with the Sabiador Slavers, a criminal organization whose operations were based in the Kathol sector and adjacent regions. He held the position of security chief within the group. Following the syndicate's dissolution, he ended up on Kal'Shebbol just before the New Republic liberated the world.

Aboard the FarStar

After Kal'Shebbol was liberated, Khzam decided it was imperative that he leave the planet to avoid potential vengeance from the freed slaves who had been held captive in Moff Kentor Sarne's detention facilities. The FarStar presented the only means of escape, being the sole vessel heading in his desired direction. Despite the fact that some of the former slaves would be a part of the crew, Khzam was not generally known as a slaver, and his identity could remain undiscovered.

Khzam asserted that he possessed extensive knowledge of the Kathol sector, gained from his time as a free-trader in the area, and claimed to have numerous contacts on various planets. He was subsequently appointed as the FarStar's security officer, primarily working on the bridge to oversee operations. Captain Ciro and Kaiya Adrimetrum frequently sought his counsel and input.

Following Captain Ciro's capture during the Battle of Kolatill, Khzam was elevated to the position of First Officer of the FarStar. After a confrontation with Uta T'Cha, a former associate from the Sabiador Slavers within the Kathol Republic, Khzam ultimately deserted, departing with fellow crewmember Nizzal aboard the shuttle named Muvon.

Characteristics and Personality

Peculiar Habits

Khzam had a strong aversion to physical contact and refused to participate in close-quarters combat. He fiercely guarded his personal space, warning anyone who approached within half a meter with the phrase "Kozak lo neets-ka", meaning "keep to your own space."

His views on species considered slaves by the Empire were demeaning, stemming from his time as a slaver. He held the belief that anything beautiful or exotic was inherently inferior and suitable for enslavement. He did not expect any former slaves to be among the crew of the FarStar.

While Khzam was frequently consulted for advice, he rarely volunteered it, preferring to be explicitly asked. At times, he appeared to have an opinion to share but would suppress it until prompted.

Khzam's primary concern was always his own survival. He acted impulsively and justified his actions afterward, always having an excuse prepared. He used part of his time spent on ground missions scouting for potential hiding places in case his past was exposed, and he always had a contingency plan in place. He often avoided settled worlds or Imperial installations for fear of being recognized.

Interpersonal Connections

The Defel, Kl'aal, was considered a friend by Khzam. Throughout the voyage, the two frequently engaged in hunts on uninhabited planets. He was also aware of Jessa Dajus's true history but kept it a secret until he felt the need to reveal it.
