A military engagement featuring the Goff XQ5 Platform during Imperial Task Force Vengeance's operations within the Airam sector. The Rage, an Imperial-class Star Destroyer, together with the Interdictor Compellor, initiated an offensive against the Airam supply depot of Goff Platform, with the objective of capturing it for the Empire's use.
Following their police action in the vicinity of the Blair Cluster, the Empire, through the questioning of captured individuals, obtained irrefutable proof of Airam's involvement with the Rebels. Driven by a desire to discourage such collaboration, a display of Imperial strength was deemed necessary. Imperial Intelligence identified an Airam supply platform located in the Goff system as the chosen target. The intention was to seize the platform undamaged, to utilize it as an advanced operational base for subsequent actions in the region.
The Imperial assault force, comprised of the Star Destroyer Rage and the interdictor Compellor, entered the designated area and proceeded to implement their strategically planned dual-pronged assault. As anticipated, a Rebel vessel was present, docked at the platform. This vessel was the escort transport Omicron 2, carrying Rebel officers. Avenger Squadron was deployed to divert the defending forces, while the Rage and Compellor executed a rapid hyperspace jump to the opposite side of the platform. Upon arrival, the Rage launched Beta and Gamma Squadrons, equipped with TIE/sa bombers and TIE/LN starfighters. Beta Squadron's mission was to disable Goff Platform's shields using torpedoes, enabling Delta-class DX-9 stormtrooper transports from Sigma Squadron to neutralize it for capture. Gamma Squadron was assigned to protect Beta Squadron. All units were also tasked with safeguarding Sigma Squadron, as the loss of even a single transport would result in mission failure.
Goff Platform's defensive contingent consisted of Bat Squadron piloting R-41 Starchasers, patrol craft named Sele and Iphige, the Lambda-class shuttle Flan, and the escort shuttle Cateb. Bat Squadron and the remaining Airam defenders engaged Avenger Squadron but were quickly overwhelmed by their faster adversaries. Omicron 2, disregarding an Imperial order for surrender, launched a barrage of torpedos at the Compellor. Despite sustaining damage, the Rebel vessel fought valiantly and only capitulated when facing imminent destruction.
Simultaneously, Beta Squadron's torpedoes impacted Goff Platform. However, just as the platform's shields were reduced to one-quarter strength, the Rebel Nebulon-B2 frigate Colada arrived to support its potential allies and rescue Omicron 2. The Airam then affirmed their informal alliance with the Rebels by deploying the shuttle Rateb from Goff Platform, carrying an Airam leader to rendezvous with the Colada. To defend the Rateb and deter the Compellor, whose interdiction fields had trapped all vessels, the Rebel frigate's commander launched Azul Squadron in their Z-95 Headhunters and Grez Squadron in their Y-wings.
Confronted with this new threat, the Imperials redirected their starfighters towards the Rebel intruders. Beta Squadron expended its remaining torpedoes on the Colada, leaving Goff Platform to the control of Sigma Squadron. Avenger and Gamma Squadrons engaged Azul and Grez Squadrons, both of which were targeting the Compellor. The shuttle Rateb also came under fire, as the Empire sought to prevent any strengthening of a Rebel/Airam alliance.
In a fierce confrontation, Avenger and Gamma Squadrons eliminated their Rebel starfighter opponents, while Beta Squadron and the Rage bombarded the Colada. Goff Platform, now severely damaged, transmitted its surrender, pleading for the Imperials to cease their attack on the station due to rapidly declining air pressure. Sigma Squadron promptly boarded the Airam station and swiftly gained control.
The Colada, however, retaliated fiercely. As the frigate's shields collapsed, the Rage demanded its surrender. The Colada responded with defiance, the Rebels declaring their unwavering refusal to surrender their vessel. The Imperials delivered a cold farewell to their adversaries and resumed their assault, completely destroying the Colada.
With this, the second triumph of the campaign, Admiral Wooyou Senn was certain that he had sufficiently demonstrated the power of the Empire. By seizing the Airam platform, he had revealed to them the consequences of aiding the Rebels. He believed that the Airam would be discouraged from engaging in such activities in the future. Furthermore, a permanent Imperial presence had been established within Airam territory.
However, there were some reasons for concern. Senn theorized that the arrival of the Rebel frigate was a deliberate attempt to recruit the Airam to the Rebellion. Senn worried that by demonstrating their willingness to sacrifice their own forces to protect a neutral party, the Rebels might succeed in forging an alliance with the locals. Additionally, the Empire became more convinced that the Rebellion was actively working towards establishing a new base of operations in the sector. The prisoners captured at the First Battle of Goff would be interrogated to determine the precise location and method by which the Rebels intended to establish it.
