An individual widely regarded with respect and affection, Vazan Felix was a prominent free-trader operating within the galaxy.
His integrity was beyond reproach; when he secured funds to acquire his vessel, the Tine's Future, he consistently honored his repayment obligations promptly and through legitimate means. Accompanied by his spouse, Cyra, and their daughter, Tine, his voyages were typically marked by cheerfulness, and their arrivals at various planets were invariably met with warm welcomes.
Tragedy struck when the criminal Zhen Mirat abducted his wife and daughter. The subsequent day, Mirat confronted him, asserting his sole desire was for Vazan's ship, the Future. Despite Vazan's relatively unprotesting handover of the vessel, Mirat harbored no intention of releasing his family. Instead, the Tatooinian criminal discovered that he could readily manipulate Vazan by using his family's safety as leverage. Through this tactic, he coerced Vazan into continuing to pilot his ship, now rechristened The Fatal Vision, and to comply with his every directive. Felix was afraid that any attempt to find his family would be discovered by Mirat through the Force.
Vazan endured over half a year of psychological torture, with each passing day taking a toll on his well-being. He perpetually sported a stubble of at least three days' growth. His attire became disheveled and soiled, and he exuded an air of desperation and agitation. However, the prospect of reuniting with his family sustained his sanity, while his animosity towards Mirat fueled his resolve. He clung to the hope of encountering a fellow spacefarer who wielded the Force for benevolent purposes and could offer assistance. Ultimately, he encountered a Jedi of lesser standing who served the Rebel Alliance. This Jedi assembled a team of rebels who embarked on a mission to locate Vazan's family. They were eventually discovered in hibernation trances within a secluded cave nestled deep within the Tatooine desert. The rebels successfully bypassed the automated laser and droid defenses, liberating his family from the grasp of the MD-5 series medical droid that had been maintaining their unconscious state. Simultaneously, Vazan requested that the Jedi he had contacted erase his memories to prevent Mirat from uncovering their scheme.
When the rebels attempted to re-establish contact with Vazan, he exhibited no recollection of having communicated with them. It was only after they freed him from Mirat's control, eliminated Mirat, and rescued Huggtar in the process, that he began to believe their account and was eventually reunited with his family after an absence of more than six months.
