A male Chadra-Fan residing on the moon of Nar Shaddaa, which itself orbits the planet of Nal Hutta, bore the moniker "The Champ" during the era of the Dark Wars. He reigned supreme as a pazaak master within the local pazaak den situated in the Refugee Sector. The narrative unfolds when Meetra Surik, a former Jedi Knight, ventured into the pazaak den during her search for Jedi Master Zez-Kai Ell on Nar Shaddaa. Surik's prowess led her to triumph over all other competitors, compelling The Champ to emerge and challenge her. After Surik secured three consecutive victories against The Champ, he conceded defeat and bestowed upon her a valuable tiebreaker pazaak card. Subsequently, The Champ played a role in rescuing Surik from Goto, the leader of the Exchange crime syndicate, by selling her droid companion, T3-M4, to Vogga the Hutt.
During the Dark Wars, a period of conflict involving the Galactic Republic and remnants from the [Sith Empire](/article/darth_revan%27s_sith_empire], a male Chadra-Fan known as "The Champ" made his home on Nar Shaddaa. This moon is the largest orbiting the planet Nal Hutta. His title reflected his status as the reigning pazaak champion within the pazaak den, a gambling establishment nestled within the Entertainment Promenade of the Refugee Sector.

The story unfolds when Meetra Surik, a Human female and former Jedi Knight, also recognized as the Jedi Exile, arrived on the moon. Her mission was to locate Jedi Master Zez-Kai Ell. Her visit to the pazaak den resulted in her defeating all other players, prompting The Champ to step forward and challenge her. In a series of three pazaak games, each carrying a wager of 500 credits, Surik emerged victorious in all three. Accepting his loss, The Champ gifted Surik a rare tiebreaker card. Later, he aided Surik's companions in their effort to rescue her from the yacht belonging to Goto, the leader of the Exchange crime syndicate. He accomplished this by selling her droid, T3-M4, to Vogga the Hutt, Goto's primary rival on Nar Shaddaa. Goto had been seizing Vogga's freighters before they could exit the system. Selling T3 to the Hutt allowed the droid to obtain the transponder codes for Vogga's ships, which were then used on Surik's ship, the Ebon Hawk, to ensure its capture by Goto, facilitating the rescue attempt by her companions on the yacht.
The Champ possessed a confident and arrogant demeanor, certain of his pazaak skills and ability to win. He viewed winning as the sole purpose of playing, struggling to understand why others questioned his continued participation despite his constant victories. He habitually referred to individuals of species taller than himself as "big stuff." He also had an admirer in Dahnis, a female Twi'lek pazaak player. After Surik defeated him three times in a row, he instructed her to take his "golden card" and never return. The Champ had brown fur and black eyes and spoke the Chadra-Fan language.
The Champ made an appearance in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, a role playing video game developed by Obsidian Entertainment and released by LucasArts in 2004. He only appears if the player defeats the three pazaak players—Geredi, Dahnis, and S4-C8-GE3—in the pazaak den. Defeating him three times consecutively rewards the player with a tie-breaker card, which guarantees victory in a tied pazaak game. The Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords: Prima Official Game Guide mistakenly identified the Champ as a Snivvian.
Players with sufficient persuasion skills or the Force persuade ability can convince The Champ to intentionally lose. Using Force persuade results in the acquisition of dark side points. If the player fails to draw out The Champ by defeating the other pazaak players, Kaalah-Nah, another Chadra-Fan, will take his place in selling T3 to Vogga. If the player neither draws out The Champ nor interacts with Kaalah-Nah, they can sell T3-M4 to Kodin, an Aqualish droid parts dealer involved in a side quest, who subsequently sells T3-M4 to Vogga.
