Schnil Hakoon, a Kubaz hailing from Kubindi, became a notorious crime lord operating out of Kinkosa City. He relocated to Kirtania due to the abundance of insects on the planet. To dominate the insect farming industry and amass greater wealth, he embraced a life of crime, employing the Ebon Coursers as his elite guard.
Schnil Hakoon, a male Kubaz born on Kubindi, was an entrepreneur and innovator. His family held patents for various designer insect breeds used in Kubaz cuisine. Hakoon's ambition was to monopolize the market on his homeworld. As Kubaz cuisine gained popularity among adventurous Imperial officer corps members, Hakoon journeyed to Kirtania, a planet rumored to be overflowing with insect life. With the intention of dominating insect farming, he established himself as a crime lord to acquire the necessary capital for his agricultural ventures. He quickly became the go-to individual for black market goods in Kinkosa City. Establishing a headquarters within the city, he hired the bounty hunters known as the Ebon Coursers to serve him. Hakoon also possessed the Amber Eye, a valuable amber crystal containing a rare insect, estimated to be worth 35,000 credits.
During the Galactic Civil War, the Human thief Pierce Mantrell infiltrated Hakoon's headquarters and absconded with the Amber Eye. Enraged, Hakoon tasked the Ebon Coursers with retrieving the stolen item. The Coursers encountered undercover Rebel operatives at Kinkosa Starport, mistaking one of them for Mantrell due to a strong resemblance. A lightfight broke out, prompting Imperial intervention and weapon confiscation. Hakoon, witnessing the altercation, proposed a deal to the undercover Rebels in a local cantina: he was aware their ship was critically low on provisions. In exchange for supplies, including replacement weapons, they would hunt down Mantrell and recover the Amber Eye. Hakoon, confident that Mantrell hadn't left the planet via ship, deduced that he must have fled into the adjacent rain forest. The Rebels, needing supplies and realizing they could fulfill Hakoon's request while pursuing their own objective—locating wanted terrorist Doctor T'Jaleq Kith'Araquia to obtain Shiarha Root for treating a Direllian Plague outbreak—accepted the offer. Hakoon instructed them to contact the bartender upon successful completion of the task.
Upon their return from the rain forest, having successfully completed the mission, the Rebels contacted Hakoon through the bartender. True to his word, he had replenished their ship's supplies and facilitated their discreet boarding in crates, as the local Imperial authorities had discovered their association with Kith'Araquia and his Araquian tribesmen.
Hakoon possessed proficiency with a blaster and demonstrated expertise in bureaucratic procedures, insect farming, and the affairs of Kirtania.
Schnil Hakoon made his debut in The Quality of Mercy, a RPG adventure penned by Nicky Rea and featured in Star Wars Adventure Journal 1 published by West End Games in 1995. Should the players fail to retrieve the Amber Eye for Hakoon, he will become enraged and dispatch the Ebon Coursers after them. Furthermore, the players will need to devise an alternative method of boarding their ship undetected. This article assumes the player characters successfully completed the task as intended.
