A popular beverage throughout the Outer Rim was Moogan Tea. Each day, drinking establishments brewed it using a spiced syrup or a tea concentrate. The resulting drink was known for being sweet, spicy, and frothy. When the Commerce Guild gained control of Mooga, the planet where it originated, they trademarked the recipe and rebranded it as Ardees Beverage. Despite this legal claim, numerous businesses continued to brew and serve Moogan Tea, though they did so with increased discretion, defying the notion that the recipe was proprietary.
During the Clone Wars, a cantina in Black Spire Outpost on Batuu, which later became known as Oga's Cantina, served both alcoholic and non-alcoholic versions of the tea. The non-alcoholic version was still available in 34 ABY, when the Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs included his recipes for Moogan Spice Syrup and the beverage made from it in his cookbook, The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook.

The original recipe for Moogan Tea, a beverage that came from the planet Mooga, was widely known throughout the Outer Rim. It was prepared using either a spiced syrup or a tea concentrate, resulting in a beige-colored, frothy beverage that was served cold.
Many drinking establishments would prepare fresh batches of the sweet and spicy tea every day, and sometimes they would add alcohol. On the desert planet Tatooine, some merchants sold small tea bags at their market stalls.
Back in 232 BBY, the pilot Nash Durango was on the snowy planet Andraven and eagerly looked forward to trying the tea, as she had heard it would be available. Later that day, she indeed enjoyed a cup of it.

By the time the Clone Wars were underway, the Commerce Guild had seized control of Mooga and declared Moogan Tea to be their trademarked beverage with a protected recipe. To produce and market the bottled drink under the name Ardees Beverage, the Commerce Guild established the Ardees Beverage Company. The guild deployed corporate surveillance droids to find establishments attempting to sell their own homemade versions of Moogan Tea. Despite the risk of receiving cease and desist orders, many businesses continued to serve their own brews in a defiant, yet discreet, manner.
During the Clone Wars, the human Senator Padmé Amidala visited a cantina in Black Spire Outpost on the Outer Rim planet Batuu while on a personal mission. The bartender, Janott, offered her both alcoholic and non-alcoholic versions of Moogan Tea. By 3 ABY, the casino cruiser Morenia was selling Moogan Tea for eleven credits.
By 34 ABY, the cantina had been renamed Oga's Cantina, after its owner, Oga Garra, and it was still serving Moogan Tea during breakfast hours. Eloc Throno, in his Traveler's Guide to Batuu, described the Moogan Tea at Oga's Cantina as "well-garnished."
According to Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs, any respectable barkeep should know how to prepare authentic Moogan Tea using the original recipe, and he felt that the potential legal consequences were worth the risk for a taste of the real thing. In 34 ABY, he took that risk himself with his cookbook, The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook, which included his recipes for Moogan Tea made with his personal blend of Moogan Spice Syrup and a Christophsian sugar topping.

The manufactured Ardees Beverage version of Moogan Tea made its debut in "Corruption," the fifth episode of the third season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which was first broadcast on October 8, 2010. The StarWars.com episode guide featured concept art with the file name "Mooga tea bottle and logo."
The Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge multimedia project introduced a new iteration of Moogan Tea, which was initially mentioned in Thrawn: Alliances, the second book in the Star Wars: Thrawn novel series by Timothy Zahn, released on July 24, 2018. In Star Wars: Scum and Villainy: Case Files on the Galaxy's Most Notorious, a reference book by Pablo Hidalgo that came out on October 23 of the same year, the section covering the events of "Corruption" referred to Ardees Beverage as Moogan tea.

At the out-of-universe Oga's Cantina bar inside the themed area Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, Moogan Tea was available. It was revealed to the public on February 27, 2019, and it became available for purchase when Galaxy's Edge opened to visitors at Disneyland Park on May 31 and at Disney's Hollywood Studios on August 29 of that year. The menu describes it as "Gold Peak® Unsweetened Tea, Chocolate Milk, Vanilla, and Cinnamon, topped with Vanilla Whipped Cream, Cinnamon & Sugar-dusted Cereal."
The cookbook Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge: The Official Black Spire Outpost Cookbook, written by Chelsea Monroe-Cassel and Marc Sumerak and released on November 5, 2019, contains a Moogan Tea recipe. The book clarifies that Moogan Tea and Ardees Beverage are distinct beverages. The recipe calls for unsweetened iced tea, chocolate milk, Moogan Spice Syrup, heavy cream, falernum, and a sprinkle of Christophsian sugar combined with ground cinnamon. The book also provides recipes for Moogan Spice Syrup and Christophsian sugar.
When Moogan Tea and Black Spire Brew were initially shown on StarWars.com, their names were mistakenly switched. The non-canon video game expansion The Sims 4 Star Wars: Journey to Batuu for The Sims 4, released in 2020, also incorrectly portrays Moogan Tea and Black Spire Brew with their names reversed.
Journey to Batuu also features Moogan Tea as a beverage that players' Sims can purchase from the Oga's Cantina vendor in the Black Spire Outpost neighborhood. Upon drinking it for the first time, the Sim automatically learns the recipe and can prepare it at mixology bars in their home neighborhood.
