During 35 ABY, when the Resistance requested assistance in their [battle_of_exegol] against Darth Sidious and the Sith Eternal on the planet Exegol, he was among the many independent pilots who responded. Following their victory, he participated in the celebrations held on the moon of Ajan Kloss.
For a significant fee, Kid Malmash used his Lancer-class pursuit craft, the Nebular Kelpie, to transport fugitives to safety. This included both wanted criminals and those seeking political asylum. As the First Order and the Resistance engaged in war, Malmash found that the number of safe havens he could deliver his clients to was dwindling, impacting his earnings.
In 35 ABY, Kid Malmash was one of the independent pilots who answered the call for help from Resistance operatives Chewbacca and Lando Calrissian. He, along with many others, followed them through the hyperspace anomalies within the Unknown Regions to bolster the Resistance forces fighting against the forces of the Sith Eternal above the planet of Exegol.
Following the destruction of the Final Order's fleet of Xyston-class Star Destroyers, Kid Malmash joined many other participants in the battle by returning to the Resistance base located on the jungle moon of Ajan Kloss to celebrate their triumph. As the droids BB-8 and D-O were reunited, Malmash danced near a GNK-series power droid before joining AL1-L3, a fellow pilot, and Seleno Chandro, a bounty hunter, as the pirate Maz Kanata spoke with Chewbacca.
Kid Malmash was a Shungbeek characterized by his white skin and red eyes. He needed an atmosphere that was rich in argon to be able to breathe.

Kid Malmash made his debut in Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker, the film directed by J.J. Abrams that premiered on December 20 of 2019. His identity was established in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary, authored by Pablo Hidalgo and released concurrently with the film. Ivan Manzella, a creature concept designer and senior sculptor, created concept art of Malmash with significantly elongated arms, titling it "Wizard 40".
