Major Jael Ganton Farvash was a member of the m'Yalfor'ac Order, a Bitthævrian, and harbored ambitions of seizing power.
Farvash made an attempt on the life of Colonel Quaal Tavier Catharius, who was the Order's leader at the time. His assassination attempt only resulted in injuries to Catharius, leading to Farvash's capture and death sentence.
Instead of a swift execution, Farvash invoked his right to a duel: He was to battle Catharius using ceremonial dematoils, overseen by a neutral Succession Judge. Each fighter would also select a Defender to prevent any unauthorized interference.
Despite his injuries, Catharius was bound by honor to accept the challenge. The identity of Favash's Defender remains unknown, while Catharius chose his bodyguard, Aul Tarrus Vishav. However, the Succession Judge was secretly in league with Favash. Favash had also concealed three Guardians armed with dematoils to assist him during the duel – a violation of the rules that he anticipated the Judge would overlook.
The duel saw both Catharius and Favash sustain injuries before the Guardians emerged. Vishav voiced his objections, but the Judge disregarded them. Consequently, Vishav, unarmed, engaged and eliminated the three Guardians, sustaining injuries in the process. Subsequently, Catharius slew Farvash, and Vishav killed the Judge.
