Hypotria, a planet found in the Bortele sector, existed within the Mid Rim. During the times of the Galactic Civil War, a Rebel Alliance operative working undercover, along with their astromech droid, R2z-DL, were stationed on Hypotria. There, R2z-DL, disguised as a maintenance droid, secretly downloaded crucial data from starships that came for servicing, transferring this information into the memory banks of Rebel Alliance ships.
Eventually, Qa'till, a crime lord of the Laboi, seized control of the planet's starship maintenance operations after his henchmen killed the Rebel operative. Despite this, R2z-DL persisted in his assignment for the Alliance, ultimately relaying intelligence that was instrumental in the liberation of Vilosoria from the Galactic Empire's dominion.
Hypotria was a terrestrial planet located within the Hypotria system. This system was situated inside the Bortele sector, which itself was a portion of the Slice region of the Mid Rim.
During the era of the Galactic Civil War, a Rebel Alliance operative working deep undercover found themselves stationed on Hypotria. Their R2z Starship Maintenance Droid, known as R2z-DL, operated from a repair shop, posing as a common maintenance droid for starships. His mission involved extracting data from ships undergoing repairs and subsequently uploading this information into the memory banks of vessels carrying specific Alliance codes, with very few Rebel agents ever seeing the droid in person. However, at one point, the operative met their end when they were killed by the employees of the ruthless Laboi crime lord, Qa'till.
Subsequently, Qa'till gained complete authority over all starship maintenance activities on Hypotria. R2z-DL, undeterred, continued his work for the Alliance, effectively operating behind enemy lines, and leveraged this changing landscape to his advantage. The droid developed programs to monitor all incoming starships, ensuring that those most likely to hold valuable information were directed to his repair shop. Furthermore, the mechanical spy occasionally fabricated repair requests to gain access to ships that showed exceptional promise as sources of intelligence.

Sometime shortly after the Battle of Yavin, R2z-DL, while observing the movements of the Galactic Empire's forces near Vilosoria in the nearby Lifh sector, managed to acquire Imperial codes. He also obtained information about the Empire's supply routes within the Lifh sector, the patrol patterns of the Imperial Interdictor cruiser Fireclaw, reports detailing malfunctions in that vessel's gravity well projectors, and a description of the seasonal physiological changes experienced by the native Vilosorian species of Vilosoria. The droid concealed all of this data within a packet aboard the Y-wing starfighter flown by the Alliance pilot Koedi Raef, who stumbled upon it while traversing the Lifh sector. This information proved vital in the subsequent liberation of Vilosoria from Imperial occupation.
Later, Alliance General Airen Cracken documented R2z-DL's assignment on Hypotria in a datafile entry dedicated to the droid, which detailed various Rebel operatives. Qa'till's grip on the planet's starship maintenance operations persisted into the era of the New Republic, which was formed in 4 ABY.
Hypotria was conceived by Chuck Truett and first appeared in Cracken's Rebel Operatives, a 1994 sourcebook from West End Games designed for use with Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. Doug Shuler provided the illustration for the planet in the book. The Essential Atlas, a 2009 reference book, pinpointed the location of the Hypotria system, and consequently the planet itself, within grid square S-8.
