A job known as a dinghy driver, or ferryman, consisted of transporting individuals between ports and their respective starships. In the time of the New Republic Era, Borgo Prime made use of space dinghys piloted by ferrymen to move pirates from their vessels to the docking area.
The live-action television show Star Wars: Skeleton Crew first brought up ferrymen in the episode "Way, Way Out Past the Barrier," which was broadcast on December 2, 2024.
