Dietrix Jago

Dietrix Jago was a pilot of the female gender who operated as a Republic Pathfinder during the High Republic Era. Serving on Pathfinder team under the leadership of Jedi Master Silandra Sho, Jago was the pilot of the team's starship, known as the Umberfall. Rooper Nitani, who was Sho's Padawan, held Jago in high esteem and considered her a dear friend.

Biography

Upon hearing the report that the Outer Rim Expedition Two-Five-Two team had disappeared, Jago piloted the Umberfall to Aubadas. She noted the unusual arrangement of Aubadas and Gloam, twin planets orbiting both each other and their star. She attempted to establish communication with the team of Katikoot or Rok Buran, but received no response. Following Sho's instructions, she flew the ship into Aubadas' atmosphere. Jago navigated according to the coordinates of the previous Pathfinder team, but was unable to locate any city. Nitani utilized The Force to pinpoint a likely location for a city, and Jago landed the ship on a rocky outcrop nearby. Jago and the others exited the ship and proceeded into a gully, searching for indications of civilization. When Republic Communications Team Oh-Arr-Ee-Three-Six-One arrived at Aubadas, Jago and her team greeted them, while the Jedi joined the Katikoot and went into Diurna.

Jago and the rest of the team made their way into the city and waited for the Jedi in the ambassador's lounge. As the meeting between the Jedi and Katikoot leaders continued, she grew impatient, eager to search for the missing Pathfinder team. The Jedi returned and informed them of the situation on Gloam. Upon hearing Nitani's declaration that they would search for their missing comrades, Jago expressed her satisfaction, stating that a mutiny might have occurred if they had decided to abandon the other Pathfinders. She piloted the Pathfinder team, along with Mittik and Rillik, to Gloam, landing at an abandoned refinery. Joining the others in the ship's common area, they examined a topographic hologram of the surface. Jago questioned the purpose of the large arches located high on the wall of the ancient city they intended to explore, rather than at ground level. When Nitani sensed someone in need of help in the distance, Master Sho decided to divide the group to accomplish multiple objectives. Jago volunteered to accompany Mittik to the ruins to look for signs of the missing Pathfinder team.

During their journey, Jago consistently monitored her comlink for any signals. She discussed the situation on Gloam and reassured Mittik that the Republic had programs in place to restore planets damaged by ecological disasters. To her surprise, she picked up a distress signal on her comlink, transmitted across a wide range of frequencies. Although she didn't recognize the signal pattern, Mittik suggested that survivors might have created a makeshift beacon. The pair decided to follow the signal to its origin, which led them away from the ancient city.

Jago and Mittik found the beacon and discovered that Spence and Dass Leffbruk had created it. Introducing herself, she successfully convinced them that she and Mittik posed no threat. She spoke with Dass, trying to understand how he had acquired a wave regulator to construct the beacon. She offered the Leffbruks a warm meal and medical assistance for their injuries. As they ate, Jago discussed with Spence and Dass their journey to a paradise planet alongside Sunshine Dobbs, and his subsequent betrayal when he abandoned them on Gloam. Dass mentioned the presence of three containers filled with ore outside the ancient city, prompting Jago to wonder why the Kattikoot hadn't dispatched ships to retrieve them. She persuaded the Leffbruks to join them in the search for the lost Pathfinders. Upon reaching the city, Jago questioned the vertical construction of the city, with no apparent means of accessing the arched entryways, to which Mittik explained that the ancient Katikoot possessed the ability to fly. She expressed her desire to enter but told the Leffbruks they could remain behind if they wished. When they agreed to accompany her, she proceeded to repair a derelict mining vehicle and used the crane to lift the group to an opening.

Holding a glowrod, the pilot took the lead as they entered the city. She came across a collection of tapestries depicting the history of the Katikoot people. Mittik was distressed to learn that they had originated on Gloam and later migrated to Aubadas to escape the Miner's curse, and Jago offered her comfort. Jago and the others continued into the city, where they discovered a central shaft leading down to the mines. As they descended, they were attacked by the Gloam monsters. Drawing her blaster, she fired at them in an attempt to repel them. Realizing they would be overwhelmed on the exposed steps around the shaft, she instructed the group to seek refuge in a small tunnel branching off from the shaft. One of the monsters managed to slash her arm with its claws, causing her to retreat in pain. Once the Jedi arrived and began to push back the monsters, Jago and the others fled up the steps and out of the city.

As she fled the collapsing city, she contacted Obik Dennisol and instructed him to prepare the ship for immediate departure and to leave the bay doors open so that she and the others could board as quickly as possible. She made her way to the cockpit and piloted the Umberfall and its passengers to safety. Jago returned to Aubadas and celebrated a successful mission before flying the Pathfinder team and the Leffbruks to Batuu.

Personality and traits

Jago possessed an upbeat and confident demeanor, with a personality that Rooper Nitani characterized as "perpetually enthusiastic." She sported a large stripe of hair along the top of her shaved head, dyed in rainbow colors. She was very fond of the Umberfall and possessed the skill to repair any part of it.
