Calonica system

The Calonica system was located within the Vensensor sector of the Western Reaches area, which itself was a part of the Expansion Region. Situated on the super-hyperroute known as the Corellian Trade Spine, it provided a link between the Tar Morden system and the Bomis Koori system of the Mid Rim. Within the Calonica system was the terrestrial planet Calonica, also bearing the same name. This planet was the location of a Galactic Empire capital.

Sometime after the Battle of Yavin, the Rebel Alliance managed to pilfer the explosive charges from most of the mines that had been planted around the Imperial capital on Calonica. Furthermore, during the Galactic Civil War, specifically between 2 BBY and 4 ABY, the Alliance achieved victory over the Empire in a battle that took place within the Calonica system.

Behind the scenes

The Calonica system initially appeared in the 1990 roleplaying game source material titled "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, How I Wonder Where We Are," featured in the thirteenth issue of the magazine Voyages SF. In that source, the system was placed within the Tau Sekar sector. Given that the article's publication occurred outside the official Lucas Licensing channels, its canonicity within the Star Wars Legends continuity remained unconfirmed. Later, in 2009, the reference book The Essential Atlas situated the Calonica system within grid square K-16. Subsequently, the StarWars.com Online Companion for the book superseded the Voyages SF 13 placement, clarifying that it was actually located in the Vensensor sector.
