Bombing of Domaz

In the year 8 ABY, Domaz, the primary urban center and capital of the planetary system Kolatill, endured a bombardment at the hands of Imperial military units loyal to the warlord Moff Kentor Sarne. Sarne sanctioned this violent act against Domaz following the ousting of Tetrum, the Imperial-appointed administrator, by Kolatill's inhabitants. These citizens then publicly announced their support for the New Republic after the Republic's recent victory on the nearby world Kal'Shebbol. TIE/sa tactical bombers, launched from the Ton-Falk-class escort carrier named Kathol Protector, executed the attack, reducing structures to rubble and igniting widespread fires. After the withdrawal of the hostile forces, the people of Domaz united to address the devastation and requested assistance from the New Republic.

Initial Situation

During 8 ABY, the denizens of the planet Kolatill, situated within the Kathol sector of the Outer Rim Territories, successfully deposed Tetrum, their Imperial governor. This action was prompted by news that a New Republic strike team had achieved liberation on the adjacent planet Kal'Shebbol. Kal'Shebbol served as the capital of the Kathol sector and the power base of Moff Kentor Sarne. Sarne governed the sector on behalf of the Galactic Empire and, subsequently, as an independent warlord after the Imperial Military began to disintegrate following the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY. The citizens of Kolatill re-established the Kolatill Council—an entity forcibly dissolved during Sarne's governance—and immediately proclaimed their loyalty to the New Republic.

The Aerial Assault

In response to Kolatill's act of rebellion, Sarne deployed the Ton-Falk-class escort carrier Kathol Protector to the Kolatill system. Upon arrival, the Kathol Protector launched TIE/sa bombers. These bombers targeted the primary city of Domaz and commenced an attack using conventional high-explosive weaponry. The resulting devastation left considerable portions of the city in ruins and engulfed in flames. Following the attack, the bombers returned to the Kathol Protector, and the carrier subsequently retreated from the system.

Subsequent Events

The city of Domaz was left in a state of pandemonium, and its inhabitants worked together to manage the crisis. Volunteer organizations were established to conduct rescue missions, provide care for the wounded, establish temporary housing, and combat the numerous fires spreading throughout the city. The Kolatill Council transmitted an urgent distress signal to the New Republic forces stationed on Kal'Shebbol, requesting immediate support. The CR90 corvette FarStar—positioned in orbit around the planet in preparation for a mission to locate Sarne after his departure from Kal'Shebbol during the New Republic's offensive—intercepted the transmission. The officer in command, Captain Keleman Ciro, directed the FarStar to proceed to Kolatill to assist with relief efforts, while Governor Monjai, the newly appointed New Republic representative on Kal'Shebbol, pledged to send further aid within a few days.

The FarStar reached Kolatill several days after the bombing and contributed to the ongoing relief operations in Domaz. While in orbit, the vessel was compelled to defend Kolatill against a subsequent assault by the Kathol Protector, which deployed TIE bombers carrying pathogenic bombs. The New Republic forces successfully defended the planet, preventing further harm to its populace.

Production Notes

The Domaz bombing was initially mentioned in the roleplaying game adventure titled Omens, the inaugural scenario for The DarkStryder Campaign, published by West End Games in 1995. The bombing was the catalyst for the player characters' ship, the FarStar, to travel to Kolatill, enabling them to aid in relief operations and protect the planet from the second Imperial attack.
