Adon Fox

A male pilot of starfighters named Adon Fox served the Alliance to Restore the Republic's fleet. He participated in the Battle of Hoth, and during the Battle of Endor he held the position of Wing Commander for Blade Squadron.

Biography

Hoth

Before the events of the Battle of Hoth, Adon Fox became a member of the Alliance to Restore the Republic. He was stationed at Echo Base, the Alliance's headquarters located on Hoth, together with his wife. When the Galactic Empire launched an invasion of Echo Base, Fox, despite having less than one hundred hours of flight time, was tasked with piloting his X-wing to escort a transport during the essential evacuation. Fox successfully navigated the mission, but tragically, his wife died when the transport she was aboard was destroyed by a blockade of Star Destroyers.

Endor

As the war progressed, Fox attained the rank of Wing Commander and was given command of Blade Squadron, the Alliance's B-wing starfighter unit. He collaborated with Lieutenant Braylen Stramm and Cadet Gina Moonsong. When the Alliance made the decision to attack the Empire's incomplete battle station, formally known as the DS-2 Death Star II Mobile Battle Station, Fox and his squadron were assigned the duty of protecting the fleet's rear and maintaining the integrity of its communication lines. Upon the Rebel fleet's arrival at Endor, the location of the Death Star, Fox was taken aback by the presence of a substantial flotilla of Imperial Star Destroyers. The squadron's rearguard assignment was promptly called off, and Blade Squadron was redirected to the kill-zone. Fox quickly identified the Devastator, the Imperial vessel responsible for the destruction of his wife's transport at Hoth. He gave the order to initiate an attack run on the Star Destroyer, only to be confronted by two dozen TIE/IN interceptors.

Fox piloted a B-wing during the Battle of Endor.

Blade Squadron engaged the Devastator and its escorting TIE fighters. Commander Gradd of the Empire, who harbored a personal vendetta against Fox, tried to eliminate him but only managed to inflict damage on Fox's B-wing before one of Blade Squadron's other pilots destroyed Gradd's ship. The Devastator was soon vanquished by Blade Squadron's ordnance, but at the cost of significant casualties. Fox's B-wing sustained severe damage, leaving only Lieutenant Stramm and Cadet Moonsong as his remaining wingmates. Due to the failure of his ejection pod, he perished just before the Death Star's shield went down.

Personality and traits

Fox was characterized by his portly build and flushed complexion. He compensated for his lack of physical prowess with exceptional reflexes and mental acuity. He was also highly regarded as a leader within the Alliance fleet.

Behind the scenes

Adon Fox is a character in the two-part short story Blade Squadron, authored by David J. Williams and Mark S. Williams. A contradiction exists regarding the type of starfighter Fox piloted during the Battle of Endor: Part One explicitly mentions that Fox was flying an A-wing during the conflict, while Part Two and some sections of Part I clearly indicate that he was piloting a B-wing. The story's details, such as the heavy shielding, escape pod, and the squadron's designation as an "elite B-wing unit," strongly suggest that Fox canonically piloted a B-wing, a fact later confirmed in the Battle Over Endor Scenario Pack.
