A Bothan of the male variety, Vin Tal'benes held the primary leadership position at the Darkside asteroid repair station. This station itself operated under the dominion of Nirama's nefarious Organization. Characterized by his diminutive stature and dark fur, Tal'benes, betrayed his anxiety with a habitual goatee-touching tic. Mirroring the general disposition of Darkside's inhabitants, he was frequently irritable, a consequence of consistently receiving underqualified personnel to fulfill his technical requirements. His days frequently concluded in an inebriated state.
Tal'benes found himself in a perpetual state of irritation due to the considerable rate of employee turnover at Darkside, which forced him to continually train new recruits. In 32 BBY, his subordinates included Karlo, the head chef; Dina Mertz, the principal technical officer; and Nala Noos, the recently appointed acting security head, filling a position vacated abruptly, a common occurrence. Xav Verivax, a smuggler, would occasionally visit Darkside, offering his expertise to enhance the security of the station's smuggling vessels, but he was not under Tal'bene's direct command.
During this time, Nirama dispatched a group of individuals to Tal'benes, ostensibly as "newcomers," but in reality, they were covert operatives with classified objectives. Tal'benes assigned them a series of routine, menial tasks over several days, including security patrols, kitchen duties, and assessments of the smuggling methodologies.
Tal'benes is a character featured in the role-playing game adventure titled MidWorld. Should the player characters leave a favorable impression during their interview, he grants them the privilege of selecting the sequence of their assignments; otherwise, they are initially assigned to kitchen duties.
Despite his apparent respect for technicians, his own profile suggests that Tal'benes himself lacks technical expertise.
