Tobix Chasser

Tobix Chasser was a cadet in the Imperial Army, specifically a human Imperial officer holding the junior grade lieutenant rank. He worked as operations staff on the planet Scarif, tasked with assigning personnel to the Death Star superweapon being constructed at that location.

In the year 1 BBY, Chasser was on duty guarding Landing Platform Nine on Scarif when the cargo shuttle SW-0608 made a covert arrival, transporting a group of rebels with the intention to steal the Death Star plans. Unaware of the enemy presence, Chasser granted access to a tram station for a group of rebels in disguise. He subsequently participated in the resulting conflict, which culminated in the destruction of the Imperial facility on Scarif by the Death Star.

Biography

Death Star deployer

Tobix Chasser, a human, was an Imperial officer cadet within the Imperial Army of the Galactic Empire, achieving the rank of junior grade lieutenant. Chasser's assignment was at the Imperial Center of Military Research located on the planet Scarif, where the Galactic Empire's Death Star superweapon was finalized in orbit. As a member of the operations team, Chasser's responsibility was the allocation of personnel to the Death Star. Given the near completion of the weapon, many individuals sought positions onboard. To ensure secrecy and competence, the lieutenant personally selected staff, prioritizing those who possessed both the necessary skills and discretion.

Chasser (left, stood beside console) was on Landing Platform Nine when SW-0608 arrived.

While stationed at the control panel of Landing Platform Nine at the Imperial base on Scarif in 1 BBY, Chasser, along with Lieutenant Frobb, the deck officer, and a stormtrooper, witnessed the arrival of the Imperial cargo shuttle SW-0608. Although directed to the platform, the shuttle secretly transported a group of rebels who had stolen it from an Imperial complex on Eadu. The Alliance members intended to infiltrate Scarif's Citadel Tower and steal the plans for the Death Star from the data vault located there.

Battle of Scarif

Oblivious to the rebels' presence, Frobb dispatched an inspection crew onto SW-0608. The rebels subdued the Imperials and stole their uniforms. While the inspection team was inside the vessel, Chasser, Frobb, and the stormtrooper remained at the control panel. From the cockpit of the shuttle, the rebel pilot Bodhi Rook noticed that they were distracted and signaled the other rebels to begin exiting the ship discreetly. Subsequently, a group of Alliance Special Forces members emerged from a hatch in the shuttle's undercarriage and stealthily moved off the platform into the surrounding foliage.

Tobix Chasser allowed Jyn Erso, Cassian Andor, and K-2SO into the Citadel Tower, where they would steal the Death Star plans.

As the remaining rebels exited the rear of the vessel, Cassian Andor and Jyn Erso, disguised as members of the inspection team, exited the front, accompanied by the reprogrammed Imperial KX-series security droid K-2SO. Unaware of the situation, Chasser gave the group only a brief glance before activating a lever on the control panel, opening the door to the tram station that connected the landing platform to the Citadel Tower for the disguised rebels.

The other rebels successfully left the platform unnoticed and began planting explosives around the Imperial complex. Detonating these charges drew Imperial forces out of the Citadel Tower and into combat. Chasser participated in the battle, which concluded with the rebels he had unknowingly allowed into the tower successfully transmitting the Death Star plans to the Alliance fleet before the Death Star annihilated the entire Imperial complex on Scarif with its superlaser.
