The initial Riileb is a legendary character in the mythology of the insectoid Riileb species, who are indigenous to the planet that shares their name. This figure is said to be the original member of the species, emerging after their evolutionary journey from an insect species. Legend has it that this individual crafted the ClanRing, a piece of jewelry whose possessor held dominion over Riileb society. Traditionally, the eldest female of the MotherClan, a group asserting direct lineage from the first Riileb, would safeguard this Ring.
The initial reference to the first Riileb appeared within the thirteenth edition of the Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game supplementary magazine collection titled Star Wars Adventure Journal, released by West End Games during 1997. Specifically, it was featured in an article titled "Alien Encounters", authored by Brian Smithson. A condensed iteration of this article was subsequently included in Alien Encounters, a compilation of all "Alien Encounters" articles assembled by Paul Sudlow in 1998.
