The SWL-5 overseer represented a security droid design produced by Stonewall Labs during the Imperial Era. This particular droid was built in a humanoid form, reaching a height comparable to an average-sized Human. The SWL-5 overseer was equipped for combat, utilizing ranged weaponry.
During the Imperial Era, Stonewall Labs manufactured the SWL-5 overseer. Following the shutdown of the Stonewall Labs installation located on Naboo, these security droids remained active. A collection of ZH-28 guards, SWL-5 overseers, LC-92 antagonists, Mechthorians and B1-series battle droids continued their programmed patrol routes within the laboratory and the surrounding area. In 1 ABY, a spacer attempted to retrieve an experimental Old Republic droid component from a droideka situated within the Stonewall Labs complex. The spacer gained entry to the lab, engaging in combat with several SWL-5 overseers before successfully acquiring the desired module.
The SWL-5 overseers made their debut in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game that was developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts. The game was eventually shut down on December 15, 2011. The SWL-5 overseers were incorporated into the game via the "Legacy Quest" update, which arrived with the release of "Publish 25," also known as the "New Game Enhancements," on November 15, 2005.
