During the Clone Wars, Anakin Skywalker, a Jedi General, and Wullf Yularen, an Admiral, jointly commanded Skywalker's fleet. This task force of the Open Circle Armada, representing the Galactic Republic, engaged the Separatist Alliance in battles of varying scale. Initially, Skywalker directed operations from the Resolute, a Venator-class Star Destroyer. In the Malevolence Campaign, Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi's own task force augmented Skywalker's. This occurred again during the Defense of Rishi Station. By the time of the Battle of Yerbana, Skywalker and Kenobi had merged their respective forces into a unified fleet group.
To replenish supplies for Senator Bail Organa's refugee camp located at the Minister of Sustenance's compound in the eastern exurbs of Christophsis, Anakin Skywalker's fleet was deployed. Christophsis is a planet.
However, Admiral Trench had established a blockade above the planet with the Confederacy navy. Despite orders to await the arrival of Obi-Wan Kenobi, the Jedi General piloting the Negotiator, Skywalker initiated an attack on the blockade. The Separatist fleet successfully resisted Skywalker's assault, inflicting significant damage on his starships and Pelta-class frigates. As the Invincible, Trench's flagship, bombarded Skywalker's forces, Skywalker opted to maximize the Resolute's engines power to break through the blockade and reach the planet's surface. Kenobi's arrival prevented this action, and he convinced Skywalker to reposition his fleet behind Leesis's moon.
After successfully breaching Trench's blockade, Skywalker directed his task force to a Haven-class medical station for resupply. Subsequently, Master Yoda instructed Republic Admiral Wullf Yularen to deliver Ahsoka Tano, carrying crucial information, to Generals Kenobi and Skywalker. Following Tano's arrival, the arrival of Separatist reinforcements forced Yularen and the Resolute to retreat. With reinforcements from Yoda and Admiral Wurtz, Yularen and the task force were then able to force the Separatist fleet to retreat from Christophsis.
Near the conclusion of Grievous's Skytop Station campaign, Skywalker's fleet was dispatched to defend Bothawui from Grievous's forces. Skywalker's forces successfully prevented the Separatists from seizing this strategically important world. The destruction of Rishi Station on the Rishi Moon then alerted the task force to Grievous's plot against Kamino. When Kenobi permitted Skywalker's capture, the task force attempted to apprehend Dooku. However, Dooku escaped, crash-landing on Vanqor before being captured by pirates.
The task force later provided support in rescuing the remaining forces of Master Aayla Secura and Commander Bly. Skywalker, his apprentice Tano, and Captain Rex successfully rescued Secura, Bly, and several other troops before Secura's cruiser was destroyed. Unfortunately, their Consular-class cruiser sustained damage and was forced into hyperspace before it could dock with the Resolute. The task force completed the battle and then focused on locating Skywalker's and Secura's forces. Despite this setback, the task force located Skywalker, Secura, Tano, and their troops on Maridun.
During the Battle of Bothawui, Anakin Skywalker's task force included at least three Venator-class Star Destroyers, with the Resolute serving as the flagship. During the Battle of Ryloth, the task force deployed the Resolute, the Defender, and the Redeemer. It also included at least one Consular-class cruiser, which was destroyed following the Battle of Quell.
The Defender and the Redeemer both met their end during the Battle of Ryloth, while the Resolute was ultimately destroyed in the Battle of Sullust. By the time of the Battle of Scipio, another flagship commanded the task force, which consisted of at least two Venators and at least two Arquitens-class light cruisers.
