An anti-slaver effort led by Saadoon-Kauldi was undertaken by the budding crime lord Saadoon-Kauldi, a former slave, with the goal of liberating a significant number of slaves from slaver vessels. Many of these freed slaves willingly chose to follow and serve Saadoon-Kauldi, thereby expanding his sphere of influence.
Prior to 10 BBY, Saadoon-Kauldi, a Kadri'Ra and one-time slave, transitioned into a drug dealer and a rising crime lord. He was in the process of establishing his own criminal enterprise, traversing the galaxy alongside smugglers in his employ.
During one such journey, Saadoon-Kauldi's crew boarded a galleon utilized by slavers. Witnessing the maltreatment of the enslaved individuals, Saadoon-Kauldi, enraged, brutally murdered the slavers and subsequently freed the captives. Much to his surprise, the freed slaves pledged their loyalty and service to him, a gesture he reciprocated by vowing to treat them as free individuals.
Recognizing the amplified power this event afforded him within the criminal world, the Kadri'Ra opted to temporarily shift his focus from drug trafficking to the systematic interception of slaver ships, thereby liberating a large quantity of slaves.
In the course of this campaign, Saadoon-Kauldi attacked an Imperial garbage scow, leading to the release of hundreds of slaves. Among them was Guzald, an elderly and refined Devaronian, who eventually became Saadoon-Kauldi's personal interpreter.
This endeavor proved to be advantageous, and ultimately, the multitude of freed slaves devoted to Saadoon-Kauldi became his most valuable resource. Once content with the results, Saadoon-Kauldi chose to resume his previous smuggling operations.
As a direct result of this campaign, a particular slaver guild exerted pressure on its contacts, including Imperial officers. Consequently, an official bounty was placed on Saadoon-Kauldi's head, and the Empire attempted to enslave the Kadri'Ra. Despite initially disregarding this retaliation, the Kadri'Ra endured numerous assassination attempts, leading to increasing paranoia.
