Ronald Rinzler was a Human male, as designated by his gender, and he was a student at the Jedi academy located on Coruscant. With a formal hairstyle and a keen interest in politics, he was elected as the president of the student council.
During Roan Novachez's second year as a student at the Jedi academy, Novachez grew concerned after observing Rinzler repeatedly peeking at his test papers, which suggested he was cheating. Although Rinzler offered an apology, Novachez was bothered by the act of cheating but feared being perceived as a "jerk" if he spoke up.
In the following year, Rinzler continued his role as student council president and was featured in the Coruscant Senate Bulletin. Throughout the term, Rinzler persisted in his attempts to cheat from Novachez, even trying to use a mind trick to coerce Novachez into letting him see his homework. However, Novachez successfully countered with his own mind trick, convincing Rinzler that he didn't need to cheat. Later, Novachez discovered that Rinzler, in collaboration with Cronah, a known bully at the school, had been responsible for playing pranks on him throughout the term. At the term's conclusion, Rinzler's cheating was exposed, leading to his failure in the Labyrinth Trial, the academy middle school's final test, as it was revealed that his first-place finish was achieved through dishonest means. Consequently, he faced an indefinite suspension from the academy but opted to accept a position at Senate Academy, a school that specialized in preparing individuals for entry into the Galactic Senate.
For the end-of-year awards presented by The Padawan Observer, his fellow students humorously voted him as a "Future Sith Lord." As he departed for Senate Academy, he informed his classmates that the academy was highly impressed with his achievements and that he would remember them when he was in charge of the galaxy. He urged them to remember to vote for him, although Bill questioned the sincerity of his statement.
Ronald's surname is the same as Jonathan W. Rinzler, an author and editor working for the book division of Lucas Licensing, who is acknowledged in Jedi Academy: The Phantom Bully. Although she doesn't physically appear, Ronald's sister is mentioned in the context of Ronald's knowledge of her future as a Jedi.
