Roget Jiriss

Roget Jiriss was a female Human who achieved great success as a smuggler during the initial years of the New Republic. Possessing both audacity and self-assurance, Jiriss harbored a deep-seated animosity toward all pirates. When she committed to a task, she invariably delivered her cargo on time, a reliability that justified her premium rates. During the Galactic Civil War, Jiriss leveraged her connections within various criminal organizations to provide valuable intelligence to the Rebel Alliance. By 10 ABY, the Galactic Empire had formally accused Jiriss of multiple crimes related to smuggling.

Biography

Roget Jiriss, 10 ABY

Roget Jiriss, a female Human, entered the world in 32 BBY. As a smuggler, she utilized her extensive network within numerous large crime syndicates to secure a degree of personal autonomy, even within the confines of Imperial space. Consequently, Jiriss proved to be a significant intelligence asset for the Rebel Alliance throughout the duration of the Galactic Civil War.

Later, Jiriss rose to prominence as one of the most accomplished smugglers in the early years of the New Republic; her prices reflected her exceptional delivery record. While Jiriss avoided direct dealings with syndicates, she would readily accept cargo from a known black marketeer if the opportunity arose, facilitating a swift departure from a given system.

By 10 ABY, Imperial authorities had filed charges against Jiriss for the unlawful transportation of weapons and prohibited goods, violations of customs regulations, and assault against planetary police personnel. Imperial records classified her as criminal TracSheet Subject 66436335-UQFC-244869.

Personality and traits

Roget Jiriss possessed a lean, athletic build and stood at a height of 1.7 meters. She was characterized by her blue eyes, long black [hair](/article/hair-legends] that reached her waist and was styled intricately, and her fair complexion.

Jiriss was a smuggler who possessed a sense of humor. She was known for her brash and confident demeanor, although her Imperial TracSheet suggested that she overestimated her own abilities. Jiriss adhered to a policy of never undertaking consecutive smuggling runs within the same system, but when she committed to a delivery, it invariably arrived on time. Jiriss held a profound aversion to pirates of all kinds, often interrupting her activities to "go hunting" when reports of their presence surfaced nearby.

The first name of Jiriss, "Roget," was a typical Corellian name for females.

Skills and abilities

Among her mechanical abilities, Jiriss had skills in astrogation, starship transports, ship gunnery, and ship shields. She had technical prowess in blaster and space transport repair. In addition to her proficiency in smuggling, Jiriss also had knowledge in alien species, languages, and planetary systems.

Equipment

Jiriss's personal starship was a heavily armed and modified YT-1300 light freighter known as the Frontier Hawk. Her standard equipment included a comlink and a blaster pistol. Her typical attire consisted of a blue jumpsuit featuring a white collar worn open at the neck, coupled with a utility belt and fingerless work gloves.

Behind the scenes

Roget Jiriss originated in the 1994 sourcebook Galaxy Guide 11: Criminal Organizations by West End Games, authored by Rick D. Stuart. She is presented as an example character of a criminal smuggler intended for use in Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. The illustration of Jiriss in Galaxy Guide 11 was created by artist Mike Vilardi.

Jiriss was later incorporated into the 1998 PC game Star Wars: Rebellion as a playable character for the Rebel Alliance. Reflecting her smuggling connections, the Jiriss character is most effective in gameplay when assigned to espionage missions and inciting rebellions on Imperial-controlled planets.

The article titled Callsigns: Names of Corellia, featured in the 2002 roleplaying magazine Star Wars Gamer 9, listed "Roget" among a collection of common Corellian first names. However, it did not explicitly state that Jiriss herself was Corellian.
