Risha Drayen

Risha Drayen, a Human female, navigated a life filled with contrasts: a minor offender, a starship mechanic, an enigmatic figure, a royal queen, and the offspring of the infamous crime lord, Nok Drayen. This all unfolded during the Cold War. Despite being raised as the daughter of a ruthless criminal, her upbringing did not leave her emotionally damaged. She was known for her wisdom and maturity beyond her age, and she lived a life of adventure.

Biography

Risha's early life was quite unusual. Her mother passed away before she had the chance to form any memories of her. Her father, Nok Drayen, imparted survival skills in the galaxy, even teaching her how to operate a blaster at the tender age of four. While Nok led his pirate organization, a freed Twi'lek slave named Vette developed a close bond with Risha, and they were as close as sisters until their eventual separation. On one occasion, Nok brought his daughter to Rishi, a pirate sanctuary, where young Risha initially feared the dark sands but ultimately enjoyed the experience. At the age of eleven, when Nok was compelled to freeze himself in carbonite to combat a disease inflicted by a treacherous lieutenant, Risha successfully executed her inaugural hyperspace jump to Dantooine, the location of her father's hidden base. For a period of several years following this event, Dantooine experienced a doubling of its population due to the presence of Risha and her father.

By the time she reached fourteen, after studying Nok's numerous holorecordings detailing criminal practices, she concealed her father and departed Dantooine under a disguised identity. During her travels in the subsequent years, she cultivated friendships with the Togruta couple Juran and Audila Reb and engaged in dealings with Beryl Thorne. At one point, she spent some time on Makeb, maintaining a low profile after a successful operation. By the conclusion of the Great Galactic War, the Sith Empire's Treasury Department had placed a bounty of 1,000,000 credits on her capture.

During the Cold War, Risha joined forces with the criminal Skavak in a quest to locate her family's crown, which her great-grandfather, King Arak Drayen III, had concealed from the usurper of the throne of Dubrillion. However, the vessel she occupied belonged to a smuggler who was determined to reclaim it. Upon the smuggler's retrieval of the ship, with Risha still aboard, she extended the same proposition to the smuggler that she had offered Skavak, promising to make her new partner "filthy rich" if they formed an alliance.

In their pursuit of the Drayen crown, Risha played a role in enhancing the smuggler's spacecraft. To achieve this, they undertook delivery missions to various locations, including Taris, Nar Shaddaa, Tatooine, and Alderaan, with the objective of acquiring the essential upgrades for the ship.

After securing all the necessary enhancements, Risha received a holocall from Juran, who disclosed that Audila had been abducted. Her captor demanded that Risha meet him on Tatooine; failure to comply would result in Audila's death. Recognizing this as a scheme orchestrated by the usurper king to lure her out, Risha enlisted the smuggler's assistance in rescuing her friend, though she withheld information about her past. The designated meeting point with the kidnapper was situated within an ancient Czerka mine. Upon verifying information with her contacts, Risha discovered an ore-processing shaft that the smuggler could infiltrate, enabling them to surprise the assassin while she seemingly complied with his demands.

Upon their meeting, Risha demanded Audila's release, but the assassin declared that his master, King Actavarus III of Dubrillion, had specifically ordered the elimination of all witnesses. Fortunately, Risha's partner arrived in time, eliminating the assassin and his subordinates. As Juran and his wife, Audila, reunited with relief, Audila demanded to know the reason for her abduction, a question Risha declined to answer. Consequently, Audila threatened to sever ties with her, but Risha and the smuggler persuaded her to grant her friend another opportunity. Risha provided the couple with credits to establish themselves elsewhere. Audila accepted, but she reminded Risha that she would eventually seek an explanation.

After departing Tatooine, Risha escorted the smuggler to Nar Shaddaa to introduce her partner to her father, who was preserved in carbonite. Nok revealed to the smuggler the location of the crown's hiding place, situated in a region of space known as the Long Shadow. Once the smuggler returned with the crown, Nok instructed Risha to seize the crown and reclaim the throne of Dubrillion. Asserting that her success would necessitate engaging in questionable actions, Risha's father commanded her to eliminate the smuggler, arguing that the loss of one spacer would not be significant. Risha refused to harm her friend. With his final breath, Nok expressed his disappointment in her. Following his death, Risha instructed Doctor Chelah to dispose of her father's remains in accordance with his wishes and formally relieved the Selkath from her family's service.

Turning to the smuggler, she pointed out that she possessed only a crown but lacked the army or fleet required to retake Dubrillion. Consequently, she opted to remain with her friend as their first mate. Furthermore, she directed the Galactic Finders Guild to credit the smuggler with the discovery of the Drayen treasure.

During her travels with the smuggler, Risha initiated plans to reclaim Dubrillion, beginning with efforts to secure allies among the aristocracy who opposed the current king's rule. She identified a potential ally in a minor baron but swiftly recognized him as a spy for King Actavarus III. With the assistance of several Hutts who owed her favors, she orchestrated a trap for the spy on Nar Shaddaa and pledged to send a holorecording of the trap to the king.

Eventually, Risha found a genuine ally in Count Merritt Rineld, who was uniting the aristocracy against Actavarus. Communicating with him via holo, Rineld explained that he planned to depose Actavarus without bloodshed. But to solidify Risha's claim to the throne, he abruptly proposed marriage. Risha later met with Rineld on Coruscant in the Senate Tower and determined he was a good ally for retaking the throne, though clearly extremely infatuated and desperate. Unfortunately, Actavarus condemned Rineld to death, starting a chain of events that plunged Dubrillion into civil war. Rineld managed to escape and contacted Risha, asking if she would accept his proposal. Risha considered it for Dubrillion's sake.

During the Eternal Empire's Conquest, the smuggler went missing. Risha searched Wild Space for three years until finally giving up.

Personality and traits

Risha was known for her sarcastic nature and generally self-centered behavior. However, her smuggler friend held the belief that she simply needed guidance to become a better person. Years spent among the galaxy's outcasts had cultivated layers of personal defense mechanisms and a cynical outlook in Risha. Only her closest companions had the opportunity to glimpse the "real" Risha hidden beneath the surface.

Behind the scenes

Tara Strong provides the voice for Risha.

The male Smuggler character has the option to romance Risha, potentially leading to marriage. When Count Merritt Rineld proposes to her, the Smuggler can offer an alternative marriage proposal. She will accept happily, and apologize to the count. She can then agree to ensure that the smuggler would be given kingship should they retake the throne.

Gameplay alternatives

If the Outlander's background is a smuggler, Corso and Risha will rejoin the smuggler following the establishment of the Eternal Alliance.

Risha reveals that, after the smuggler's disappearance, she was forced to seek refuge from enemies on Dubrillion, accompanied by Corso. The pair devised a scheme to earn credits by exploiting Skavak's reputation. After Vaylin sacked Dubrillion, they heard rumors that the smuggler was alive and tracked them down. Corso and Risha reunited with their captain, and the pair were welcomed into the smuggler's new crew.
