Rick Veitch

title: Rick Veitch

Rick Veitch, a comic book author and artist, was born on May 7, 1951. He also worked as a letterer on a few editions of the Marvel Star Wars comic book series.

Veitch's professional life took off in the early eighties, when he drew a number of fantasy-themed comics for Marvel Comics' Epic line. Subsequently, he collaborated with Alan Moore as the illustrator on Swamp Thing for DC Comics. After Moore's departure, Veitch became the writer for the series, but soon resigned due to DC's choice not to publish a controversial story featuring Jesus Christ. Following his exit from DC, he began creating comics for alternative presses, including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and his own superhero spoof, Bratpack. In the nineties, he launched an online comic convention website called comicon.com, providing a virtual meeting place for comic creators and enthusiasts. His brother, Tom Veitch, was a comic book writer known for writing the Star Wars: Dark Empire series, as well as the initial stories of the Tales of the Jedi series.
