During the era of the New Republic, a Givin female named Pendor Gyrr operated as a criminal. While she dabbled in smuggling and illicit black market transactions, her primary source of wealth came from counterfeiting credits. Utilizing her innate Givin aptitude for mathematics, Gyrr produced fraudulent Imperial and New Republic currency, which she then used to acquire various goods. Although her actions alone weren't enough to destabilize the New Republic's financial system, General Airen Cracken offered a bounty for Gyrr's capture, aiming to discourage other criminals from emulating her methods. It was suspected that she maintained multiple bases on various [trade](/article/merchant/legends] worlds.
Pendor Gyrr, a female Givin, was born on Yag'Dhul, her species' homeworld, in 33 BBY. Feeling out of place among her own kind, she departed her home planet and established herself as a skilled currency forger. Following the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY, which caused widespread instability throughout the galaxy, Gyrr exploited the resulting economic chaos to generate substantial quantities of counterfeit currency, including both Imperial and New Republic credits. Gyrr manipulated the financial markets by waiting for a currency's value to peak, then using her fake credits to make purchases. Qan Gindoch, a Human smuggler, worked for her until he was apprehended on Mantooine by New Republic agents, who suspected his involvement in the counterfeiting scheme. Gindoch provided a full confession and was released in 6 ABY. His testimony enabled the Republic to connect seized counterfeit money to Gyrr's organization and identify subtle flaws in her forgeries.
In addition to counterfeiting, Gyrr engaged in black market sales of stolen goods and [spice](/article/spice-legends] smuggling. General Airen Cracken of the New Republic believed that Gyrr had established bases on several trading planets and systems, including Bespin, Celanon, the Corellian system, Nar Shaddaa, and Ord Mantell.
Although Gyrr's forgery operation was relatively small and didn't significantly devalue the New Republic's currency, Cracken was concerned that the galactic government's inability to shut it down would encourage other criminals to follow suit, exacerbating the problem. Consequently, in 7 ABY, Cracken issued a bounty of 15,000 credits for the capture of the Givin. Cracken mentioned unverified reports suggesting that Gyrr was on Ord Mantell at the time the bounty was posted.
Pendor Gyrr leveraged her Givin heritage's mathematical prowess to create counterfeit currency, a skill where she was a master, even if skilled analysts could detect imperfections in her work. She was a competent businessperson with expertise in banking, currencies, and financial markets. She also navigated criminal circles effectively. However, Gyrr felt alienated from Givin society and preferred life away from Yag'Dhul. Gyrr was a hairless, black-eyed Givin, standing 1.6-meter tall, with the characteristic bone-white exoskeleton of her species.
Gyrr typically carried a hand scanner, credit plates, a datapad, and a hold-out blaster. In an image accompanying her New Republic bounty profile, Gyrr is depicted wearing a loose-fitting tunic-trousers combination and sandals.
Gyrr is a character featured in the role-playing game supplement Wanted by Cracken, authored by Louis J. Prosperi and published by West End Games in 1993. Rob Caswell created the illustration of Gyrr included in the entry.
