Parliament of Moralan

The governing body of the Moralan species' republic was known as the Parliament of Moralan. This republic came into existence after the Moralan people achieved liberation from their enslavement by the Hutt species. The Tionese, adversaries of the Hutts originating from the Tion Hegemony, played a role in encouraging the species' liberation. The parliament was already established by the time of the Second Battle of Vontor which occurred during the Hutt–Xim conflict, a war fought between the Tionese and the Hutts. During that battle, Tionese forces were present within the Moralan system, the location of Moralan, which served as the Moralan homeworld, but they soon withdrew. Subsequently, a Hutt named Boonta Hestilic Shad'ruu attacked the republic, leading to its conquest. This conquest caused the extinction of the Moralans, and consequently, the destruction of the parliament. The battle's three-day duration is commemorated in the three-day festival called Boonta's Eve, named in honor of the battle's hero.

Behind the scenes

The initial mention of the parliament of Moralan appeared in an article penned by Rich Handley together with Abel G. Peña. This article focused on the Star Wars Droids television series and was published in issue 170th of the Polyhedron role-playing magazine, which was released in June of 2004. In the endnotes of The Essential Atlas, a reference book from 2009, Daniel Wallace clarified that the Moralan species he and Jason Fry mentioned was alluding to the parliament. Fry referenced them again in The Essential Guide to Warfare, a reference book he co-authored with Paul R. Urquhart in 2012.
