Nigel VI

Nigel VI, a planet located within the Nigel system of the Expansion Region, was home to a relatively obscure Human settlement. The world's dominant topographical features included frigid glaciers, expansive plains, and sizable polar ice caps, resulting in a generally cold environment. A local republic, primarily concerned with suppressing criminal activity, governed Nigel VI. This planet did not engage in commercial relationships with the broader galaxy until the approximate time of the New Republic.

Description

Situated in the Nigel system within the Kira sector of the Expansion Region, Nigel VI was just one of numerous worlds found along the Enarc Run, a trade route stretching from the Enarc system to the Vondarc system. Characterized by its cold climate, substantial polar ice caps, and landscapes featuring glaciers and plains, Nigel VI also possessed an atmosphere suitable for respiration by most species. Its local year consisted of 325 days, each divided into 20 standard hours. The capital city of Nigel VI was known as Nargo.

A local republic, with a significant emphasis on fighting crime, held governmental control of the planet. Consequently, the laws enacted on the planet were rather stringent, and all arriving starships were subjected to detailed inspections. The unauthorized export or possession of lexonite—a naturally occurring poisonous substance favored by terrorist organizations—was met with particularly severe penalties, including immediate execution for any violations. High technology constituted the majority of Nigel VI's imports, while the planet's primary exports consisted of its own natural resources.

History

A Human colony took root on Nigel VI at some point, yet the planet remained relatively obscure to the rest of the galaxy. Over the years, crime became a significant problem for the settlers. To address this, a local republic was formed, which proved to be quite effective in its efforts. Nigel VI did not participate in interstellar commerce until around the time of the New Republic.

Following the collapse of the Galactic Empire, lexonite gained popularity as a poison among terrorists who sympathized with the Imperial cause. One such group orchestrated the illegal export of a lexonite shipment through Und'l, a Buzchub smuggler. Und'l, in turn, contracted a group of spacers to manage the physical transportation of the lexonite.

Inhabitants

Humans, a species found throughout the galaxy and unmatched in number, made up the bulk of Nigel VI's population.

Locations

Nargo

Nargo served as the capital of Nigel VI. Reflecting the planetary government's dedication to combating crime, security was a top priority within the city.

Behind the scenes

Nigel VI was conceived for Twin Stars of Kira (1993), a supplement for a roleplaying game published by West End Games. Aside from a short listing for the Nigel system in The Essential Atlas (2009), the planet has not appeared in any other Star Wars media.
