Mytaranor was a somber industrial world situated within the Mytaranor system. This system was part of the Mytaranor sector located in the Kashyyyk Region, which itself was within the Slice area of the Mid Rim. The Nightroad hyperlane provided a connection between this world and both the Tholatin system and the Pizilis system within the Terr'skiar sector.
Mytaranor, a well-known shadowport in the galactic underworld, gained notoriety primarily from its flourishing underground slaver activities. These activities were conducted by groups such as the Mytaranor Slaving Council, which was established around 1 BBY. At some point, slavers operating from Mytaranor had dealings with the native inhabitants of the world Bimmisaari. Furthermore, Graxol Kelvyyn, an Anx slave trader active in the Outer Rim Territories circa 32 BBY, was linked to a network of slave smugglers, some of whom were based on Mytaranor. On 36:4:20, the Galactic Empire nationalized Bansche Tech, a megacorporation on the planet Chamble, on the suspicion that the company was providing assassin droid parts to criminal organizations, including slavers operating from Mytaranor.
The initial mention of Mytaranor appeared in "The University of Sanbra Guide to Intelligent Life: The Anx," a source article for roleplaying purposes. It was featured in the seventh issue of the Star Wars Gamer magazine, released on October 16, 2001, and intended for use with the Star Wars Roleplaying Game by Wizards of the Coast. The reference book The Essential Atlas, published in 2009, designated the world's location as grid square P-10.
