Mandalore sector

The Mandalore sector, also known as Mandalorian Space, was a sector situated within the Outer Rim Territories of the galaxy. Within its boundaries were over a thousand worlds, with almost a thousand of these remaining neutral and independent from the Galactic Republic. The Mandalore sector encompassed several star systems, notably the Concord Dawn, Mandalore, and Phindar systems.

Its location along the Hydian Way, between Coruscant and the Outer Rim Territories, gave the sector significant strategic importance. Consequently, it was a frequently contested zone during galactic conflicts, including the Clone Wars.

In the distant past, the Mandalorians expanded their dominion from their home planet, establishing numerous star systems that were then divided into fiefdoms controlled by various Mandalorian clans. Mandalorian political life centered around powerful "Houses," such as House Kryze and House Vizsla, whose primary power bases resided within the Mandalore system itself. Below these major Houses, smaller and more numerous "Clans" acted as their vassals, governing the colony systems locally. By the era of the Galactic Empire, many of these colony worlds had been under the rule of local Clans for numerous generations, each developing their own unique traditions over centuries. For instance, Clan Wren were vassals sworn to House Vizsla, but Clan Wren held direct rule over and was based on the colony world Krownest.

Behind the scenes

The Mandalore sector made its initial appearance in Galaxy Guide 9: Fragments from the Rim, a Star Wars Legends sourcebook published in 1993 for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game, authored by Simon Smith and Eric S. Trautmann. Its status as canon was established through its inclusion in "The Mandalore Plot," the twelfth episode of the canonical animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars' second season. Its canonical identification first occurred in the 2014 novel Tarkin, penned by James Luceno.
