The MandalMotors tower served as the central hub for the MandalMotors starship manufacturing enterprise. It was strategically positioned within the capital city of Keldabe on the planet Mandalore, a key location within the planet's landscape. Rising to a height of one hundred meters, the tower prominently displayed the mythosaur skull logo of MandalMotors, making it an easily identifiable structure across the cityscape. Beyond its height, the tower was surrounded by the company's production plants, engineering facilities, storage sheds, and hangars that supported its operations. The complex also featured a dedicated landing strip, separate from the main Keldabe spaceport, for exclusive use by MandalMotors.
Constructed several years before the rise of the Galactic Empire, the MandalMotors tower was a pivotal site for the company's extensive years of starship production. During the Clone Wars, a conflict that engulfed the galaxy, the tower was seized by Mandalore the Resurrector's Mandalorian Protectors when he aligned the Mandalorians with the Confederacy of Independent Systems against the Galactic Republic. decades following the conclusion of the war, the headquarters of MandalMotors sustained damage during the Yuuzhan Vong's attack on Mandalore, an extragalactic invasion, leaving lasting marks that remained visible for many years.
MandalMotors tower, the location of the MandalMotors starship company headquarters, was situated on the planet of Mandalore. This tower, which reached a height of one hundred meters, was located within the planet's capital city, Keldabe, and was distinguished by the inclusion of the corporation's prominent mythosaur skull logo. Its significant size meant that the tower was a well-known landmark in Keldabe, and pilots often used it as a navigational aid when they were approaching Keldabe's spaceport. A number of engineering workshops were located around the tower's base, in addition to a private landing strip. A research wing was also present, consisting of a series of interconnected sheds and hangars that appeared unassuming from the outside, but housed advanced technology and company prototypes inside. A portion of the company's production facilities were also housed in the tower.
The MandalMotors tower was constructed several years prior to the Clone Wars, which was a major conflict between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems that spanned across the galaxy. By this time, the tower had already become a well-known part of Keldabe's skyline, and had been used to produce high-quality starships for a long time. Customers of MandalMotors were able to pick up parts and equipment from the company's headquarters. Mandalore the Resurrector established the Mandalorian Protectors in 20 BBY. Soon after, he led his troops to seize the MandalMotors facilities for the exclusive use of the Confederacy, which the Mandalorians had recently allied with. Despite the fact that many Mandalorian pilots had grown accustomed to using the tower as a navigational landmark, when the Republic was transformed into the Galactic Empire, Imperial forces arrived on Mandalore to establish a garrison on land leased by the clans. During a low-altitude sweep over the capital city, Imperial gunships nearly collided with the top of MandalMotors tower.
The planet was attacked by the Yuuzhan Vong, who were extra-galactic invaders, in 29 ABY. This occurred long after the Empire had fallen and Imperial forces had been driven out of Mandalore. Despite the Mandalorians' success in repelling the Yuuzhan Vong attackers, many Mandalorian soldiers were killed, and Mandalore itself suffered substantial damage. MandalMotors tower sustained battle scars and scorch marks that remained visible for decades.
MandalMotors was developing the Kyr'galaar starship prototype at the tower's research wing in the time leading up to the Second Galactic Civil War. However, in 40 ABY, after a fresh deposit of beskar iron ore was discovered on Mandalore, the company redesigned the Kyr'galaar as the new Bes'uliik-class assault fighter. Jir Yomaget, the CEO of MandalMotors, then met with Boba Fett, the reigning Mand'alor, at the tower's research wing to unveil the new starfighter. Following Fett's approval of the designs, production of a series of Bes'uliik prototypes began at the manufacturing facilities of MandalMotors tower.
The MandalMotors tower was first seen in the Star Wars universe in Karen Traviss's 2006 e-novella, Boba Fett: A Practical Man. Traviss continued to feature the tower in her subsequent works, including the Star Wars: Legacy of the Force novels Sacrifice and Revelation, as well as the Republic and Imperial Commando novels, Order 66 and Imperial Commando: 501st.
