A notable male Weequay mercenary named Labansat gained notoriety during the time of the Galactic Civil War. Operating primarily within the Karstaxon Regions and the Lesser Plooriod Cluster, Labansat, a brutal and exceptionally skilled warrior, offered his services to anyone willing to meet his price, including the forces of the Galactic Empire. He roamed these two areas of galactic space seeking opportunities.
During the Galactic Civil War between the Rebel Alliance and the Galactic Empire, Labansat, a male Weequay, made a name for himself as a fearsome mercenary. He was frequently found in the Lesser Plooriod Cluster and the Karstaxon Regions, areas of galactic space where he often accepted contracts, provided the potential employer agreed to his fee. The Empire was one of many who employed Labansat's services.
A brief mention of Labansat as a noteworthy Weequay can be found in the first volume of The University of Sanbra Guide to Intelligent Life, a work detailing various alien species compiled by Tem Eliss, a sentientologist from the University of Sanbra under the direction of Iyra.
The character of Labansat, a Weequay mercenary, was initially referenced as a "notable personalit[y]" of his species within the pages of Galaxy Guide 12: Aliens — Enemies and Allies, a sourcebook released by West End Games in 1995. Later, he made an appearance in the PC game Star Wars: Rebellion (1998), where he was depicted as one of several characters aligned with the Empire available for players to utilize. In the game, Labansat excels at sabotage missions, assassination, and abduction due to his exceptional combat and espionage skills; however, his diplomacy and leadership abilities are lacking. His name was subsequently used as an example of a typical Weequay name in Ultimate Alien Anthology, published in 2003.
An article by Tom Byron previewing Star Wars: Rebellion before its release appeared in Star Wars Galaxy Magazine 10 from January 1997. The article erroneously stated that Labansat was originally from Timothy Zahn's Thrawn Trilogy series of novels.
