Ku-Bops

The Ku-Bops were a trio of musicians who called Kublop Springs home, a town located on the Outer Rim planet known as Tenoo. They were active during the High Republic Era. A new song was debuted by them during a performance at a concert held by the Jedi Temple on Tenoo, which was situated outside of Kublop Springs.

Description

The residents of the planet Tenoo greatly enjoyed the music of the band known as the Ku-Bops. A huge fan of the band was the young human pilot named Nash Durango. The RJ unit RJ-83 was a big fan of the droid DJ K1-T, also known as "Kit".

History

Missing member

During the High Republic period, the Ku-Bops received an invitation from Nash Durango to perform at the Tenoo Jedi Temple. As they were setting up for the concert, Metz and Kit arrived at the venue in a state of panic. Metz informed Durango that Bruff was nowhere to be found, and they might have to call off the show. Durango suggested that Bruff might simply be running late, but Metz explained that Bruff was never late. Jedi Initiate Lys Solay then prompted Metz to recall that he had last seen Bruff at their rehearsal the night before. Solay proposed that she, Metz, and Durango search for Bruff. Kit remained at the venue with Jedi younglings Kai Brightstar and Nubs to continue preparing for the performance.

Metz, Durango, and Solay paid a visit to Bruff's house, where they spoke with Bruff's younger brother, Sep. The young Twi'lek shared that Bruff had returned home the previous night in a very upset state and had subsequently left. He was unsure of the reason for his brother's distress. Thinking about places Bruff liked to visit when upset, the group went to Hap's Sap Tap, where Hap told them that Bruff had been there earlier but had left his rumble bass behind. Hap then handed Bruff's rumble bass over to Metz. Later, Metz overheard a song written by the band being sung a cappella while walking near the river. He, Durango, and Solay followed the sound of the singing to the dock, where they located Bruff. He was reluctant to perform that evening because he felt resentful towards Metz for not allowing him to sing in their band. Bruff argued that he had repeatedly asked Metz to sing, but Metz always dismissed the idea. Metz continued to insist on being the lead singer, asserting that it was his role in the band. Bruff countered that he had written their new song specifically so that he could sing it himself and issued an ultimatum: if he wasn't going to sing, he wouldn't perform. Frustrated by Metz's focus on the concert rather than his feelings, Bruff began to step backward, accidentally falling into a speeder, pulling Metz along with him. As Metz fell, his legs landed on the speeder’s controls, breaking them, and sending the speeder into the river.

Lost control

The band members were swept down the river towards the rapids. Metz attempted to repair the controls, but Bruff remained fixated on trying to get Metz to listen to his perspective. Solay and Durango boarded the Crimson Bolt to rescue the pair. As Metz and Bruff neared the waterfall, Solay used the Force to wedge a log between two rocks, preventing the boys from plunging over the edge of the waterfall. Having been saved from the fall, Durango and Solay towed the damaged speeder back to the port.

Despite surviving, Bruff and Metz continued to blame each other for their close call. Solay and Durango encouraged Bruff and Metz to forgive one another and find a compromise by allowing Bruff to sing some of the time. This prompted Metz to apologize to Bruff, who returned the apology. Finally, focused on each other's feelings, Metz and Bruff embraced and rode on speeder bikes back to the Temple for the concert.

The concert

Upon their arrival at the concert, Metz and Bruff hugged Kit, and the three of them took to the stage to perform a song about friendship and teamwork, with Bruff as the lead singer. As a gesture of gratitude, the Ku-Bops invited Durango onto the stage, where she played a tambourine and celebrated being part of the band.

Members

The Ku-Bops consisted of three primary musicians: Metz, Bruff, and Kit. Metz served as the lead singer and played the electric viodle, Bruff played the rumble bass, and Kit was their deejay. During one of their performances, Durango was invited to join them on stage to sing along and play the tambourine.
