Karn Valanti was a male human who acted as a stand-in for Jagged Fel, the Head of State of the Imperial Remnant. He journeyed to the planet of Coruscant with Fel in 43 ABY for the Unification Summit. Valanti filled in for Fel at the Imperial Embassy during one of Fel's operations with Darkmeld, a clandestine pro-Jedi group, ensuring his absence wouldn't be noticed. Subsequently, Valanti had dinner at the Indigo Tower restaurant with Lina Zev, a look-alike for Jedi Knight Jaina Solo, as a decoy to distract journalist Javis Tyrr from Fel and Solo. Following Fel and Solo's wedding in 44 ABY, Valanti and Zev once more impersonated the couple on Hapes.

Around 43 ABY, Karn Valanti, a human male, was an employee of the Imperial Remnant government. His role often involved impersonating Jagged Fel, the Imperial Head of State. As part of the Imperial Remnant delegation, Valanti went with Fel to the Unification Summit on Coruscant, the capital of the galactic world. During the Summit, Fel became a member of Darkmeld, a covert organization established by Jedi Knight Jaina Solo to oppose the anti-Jedi policies of Natasi Daala, the Chief of State of the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances. During a Darkmeld operation where they captured Seff Hellin, a psychotic Jedi Knight, Valanti substituted for Fel at the Imperial Embassy, ensuring the Head of State's absence went unnoticed.
Soon after, Valanti officially joined Darkmeld, adopting the alias "Carved." Meanwhile, the relationship between Fel and Solo had attracted reporters and journalists, making it difficult for them to have private moments. During Operation Caranak, Valanti teamed up with Lina Zev, a Solo look-alike, and they dined at the Indigo Tower restaurant to mislead potential followers of Fel and Solo. Javis Tyrr, a journalist, was deceived by the ruse and dined at the restaurant, hoping to boost the ratings of his show by revealing information about Fel and Solo's relationship. He eventually learned that Valanti and Zev were merely doubles, but by then Fel and Solo were en route to a secluded inn, free to dine in peace. Valanti and Zev once again pretended to be the couple on the planet Hapes, making occasional public appearances while the real Fel and Solo—who had recently married—embarked on a clandestine trip to Sakuub.
Karn Valanti made his first appearance in Fate of the Jedi: Omen, the 2009 Star Wars novel by Christie Golden, which was the second installment in the Fate of the Jedi series. Valanti had been hinted at in the series' first novel, Fate of the Jedi: Outcast by Aaron Allston. Valanti was later mentioned in Getaway, a short story by Golden published in 2012 in issue 134 of Star Wars Insider magazine. In the story, Valanti's last name was incorrectly spelled as "Valenti."
