"Inside Job" is a brief comic book narrative that was featured in Star Wars: The Clone Wars Comic issue 6.1.
Separatist forces are attacking the planet Gall, which is located in the Outer Rim. Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano, and Republic troops are on the ground, trying to destroy the incoming droid ships with their weaponry, but their efforts are fruitless. Their attacks are completely ineffective against the enemy ships. A Republic sergeant suggests that the situation is hopeless as long as the lead ship continues to project its current shield - because they cannot destroy the ship, the droids can fire freely at them. Skywalker assures him that they are not truly without defense, given the presence of the Jedi. Tano questions this as they move, pointing out that their ships are still being refueled, to which Skywalker replies that they won't be using them.
Instead, the pair commandeer a couple of jet-wings that are used locally for spreading fertilizer. Tano expresses doubts about Skywalker's plan, but he insists that it's their only way to bypass the sensors and penetrate the shield. They successfully board the ship, but after they exit their jet-wings, the wings are destroyed, leaving Tano to question how they will return to the ground. En route to the shield generator, Skywalker and Tano walk past rows of inactive battle droids. Skywalker assures Tano that the ship must have diverted all its power to the shield, as experimental models often require a significant amount of energy.
Tano and Skywalker begin planting charges around the generator, while discussing the nature of the shields. Skywalker inquires whether Tano thinks the shields appear to be Geonosian in origin, to which she responds that they seem too technologically advanced to be Geonosian. Skywalker suggests that they can address the issue of who created it later. They finish placing the charges and set a five-minute timer. As the countdown begins, Tano notices a red light flashing on a console near the shield generator and asks Skywalker if it was on before. They are then ambushed by battle droids and ignite their lightsabers to engage them in combat, all while the timer continues to count down. Skywalker instructs Tano to head for the airlock, assuring her that they can reach it before the timer expires.
They continue to push forward against the ticking clock. However, Tano points out that there are too many droids and the airlock is too far away - with only twenty-two seconds remaining, they are still far from the airlock. Skywalker pauses for a moment to consider their options before suddenly having an idea. He tells Tano that they cannot go through the battle droids, so they should imitate womp rats from Tatooine, which burrow into the sand to evade predators. With that, he begins cutting into the floor beneath him with his lightsaber, urging Ahsoka to follow. With just one second left before detonation, they cut through the bottom of the ship and begin to fall.
As the ship explodes above them, they see R2-D2, piloting Skywalker's starfighter, with Tano's following close behind. Skywalker instructs Tano to use the Force to slow their descent, and they both land safely inside the cockpits of their fighters. Skywalker declares that with the shield down, the planetary defenses will be able to eliminate the remaining ships. Tano asks if he believes they saved the moon, and he concludes that they might have.
