Imperial CompLink

The Imperial CompLink, a type of computer processing system, was conceived by researchers during the early days of the New Order. This system aimed to unite computers from countless worlds through the HoloNet. Despite its potential, Palpatine ultimately disapproved of the project due to its exorbitant price tag of tens of trillions of credits and concerns about unrestricted communication. The official justification for its cancellation was its financial burden.

Imperial Intelligence subsequently retrieved the majority of the project's documentation and software. They then revived the initiative, enlisting several of the original scientists. Instead of relying on the HoloNet, Imperial Intelligence utilized the Sector Plexus conduit network, supported by a legion of Tech 4 PDVs, to connect galactic computers. This approach drastically reduced the cost by a factor of ten thousand. The necessary software, employing system cells and Tech, was deployed across hundreds of sectors, yet only six percent of planetary networks were successfully integrated into the CompLink. Just as the Ubiqtorate contemplated abandoning the project due to its limited returns relative to its investment, Geothray Camber, a Plexus technician, invented a novel eavesdropping tool. This device promised to bypass nearly all computer security measures, granting Imperial Intelligence unprecedented access. Camber encountered technical hurdles and dispatched detailed scandocs to Doctor Lindu Sencker. Sencker's team resolved Camber's theoretical and practical problems. The resulting innovation, the Hyperspace Orbiting Scanner, enabled Imperial Intelligence to monitor computer networks across more than 470,000 planets.
