Hylon

Hylon, an Ovoni male, held the rank of Jedi Master within the Ovoni, existing in the closing years of the Galactic Republic. During 19 BBY, Hylon, together with his Jedi apprentice, Dendro, managed to live through the initial stages of the Great Jedi Purge, an event ordered by Supreme Chancellor Palpatine. Some months after Palpatine proclaimed himself to be the Emperor of the Galactic Empire, Hylon and Dendro became allies with the Ovoni inhabitants of the planet Otavon XII. Following the defeat of an Ovoni strike force while they were assaulting Tremor Base, an Imperial installation responsible for constructing All Terrain Armored Transports, the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Vader killed Dendro and then located Hylon, who was situated on Mount Dijandi awaiting the arrival of the Dark Lord. The Jedi Master engaged Vader in a duel, during which Vader disabled Hylon's lightsaber. The Jedi then revealed a concealed sword inside his staff and launched an attack against the Dark Lord. Nevertheless, Vader brought about Hylon's demise using Dendro's lightsaber.

Biography

During the Clone Wars, Hylon, an Ovoni male, dedicated his service to the Jedi Order as a Master. During this time, he chose the Human Dendro to be his Padawan. In 19 BBY, Supreme Chancellor Palpatine issued Order 66, compelling the majority of clone troopers to murder their Jedi Generals. Soon after, Palpatine declared himself Emperor of the newly formed Galactic Empire. Hylon and Dendro made it through the early phases of the Great Jedi Purge and formed an alliance with the Ovoni natives residing on the planet Otavon XII. Several months following the issuing of Order 66, the Ovoni launched an assault on the local Imperial station known as Tremor Base, which was responsible for the construction of All Terrain Armored Transports. However, the assault team was overpowered by the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Vader and the Imperial forces under his command. Vader tracked down and killed both Dendro and a group of Ovoni who were en route to meet Hylon on the nearby Mount Dijandi.

While meditating on the mountain, Hylon was approached by Vader, who arrived on a sugati, a creature native to Otavon XII, to confront the Jedi Master. Hylon informed Vader that he was aware that the Sith would employ a mind trick on the sugati in order to ascend Mount Dijandi and face him. When Vader inquired about the location of Hylon's starship, the Jedi responded that there had never been a ship and suggested that Vader should be more concerned about the sugati's departure. He then attacked Vader with his lightsaber while Vader was distracted. Hylon successfully blocked Vader's counterattack and even managed to inflict an injury on the Dark Lord using his staff, which he held in his left hand.

After Vader destroyed Hylon's lightsaber, the Jedi commended Vader's precision and drew a sword from within his staff. Hylon launched an attack on Vader and managed to disarm the Dark Lord. However, Vader retaliated by stabbing Hylon in the stomach with Dendro's lightsaber, which he had taken from Hylon's Padawan when he killed him. Vader demanded that Hylon reveal his name before Vader ended his life. The Jedi complied, stating that his name meant "trickster" in the Ovoni language. Vader further questioned Hylon about his reasons for coming to the mountain without any hope of escape, to which the Jedi replied that Vader would understand upon his return to the Imperial base. The Dark Lord then used Dendro's lightsaber to kill Hylon, unaware that the Jedi Master had sacrificed himself by distracting Vader to ensure that the sugati would be able to destroy Tremor Base. Upon Vader's return to the Imperial base, he discovered that the sugati had completely destroyed the station.

Before Vader killed him on Mount Dijandi, he revealed that his name translated to "trickster" in the Ovoni language.
