The Heralds of Zildrog, often referred to as simply Heralds, were a Force-wielding cult originating from Zakuul that embraced nihilistic ideals and drew upon the Dark Side of the Force.
These Heralds venerated Zildrog, a legendary dragon figure who predated the Zakuulan gods such as Izax. Their core belief centered on the imminent return of Zildrog, which they prophesied would bring about the destruction and subsequent recreation of the world.
It appeared that the Heralds were largely composed of individuals sensitive to the Force, with many choosing to wield lightsabers as their weapons of choice.
Despite being viewed as heretics by the mainstream Zakuulan faiths, the Heralds managed to forge a temporary alliance with Arcann while he reigned as Emperor of the Eternal Empire. Arcann granted the Heralds authority to maintain order within Zakuul's Old World, an area excluded from the jurisdiction of the Knights of Zakuul, who typically served as law enforcement.
Their role in policing the Old World led to conflict with the Commander when the Outlander journeyed to their headquarters in Breaktown in search of the Lady of Sorrows, an information dealer operating in that district. When the Outlander appeared before the Exalted of the Heralds to request an audience with the Lady, the Exalted defied the Lady's explicit instructions and ordered the Outlander's execution. Subsequently, the Exalted and his Heralds reported back to the Lady, who had taken Brennen, the Exalted's son, as hostage. As punishment for his insubordination, the Lady assassinated the old Exalted and appointed Brennen as the new leader.
Following the rise of the Eternal Alliance, a number of Heralds also aligned themselves with the Order of Zildrog. Many of these individuals perished during the Alliance's mission to Nathema.
