The Helmet Squad was a group of prison wardens, considered a squad, that maintained order in Desolation Alley.
The most significant action of this squad occurred during Jango Fett's mission to Oovo IV. Upon discovering that Malastare crime lord Sebolto had put a bounty on the head of prisoner Bendix Fust, Fett immediately traveled to Oovo IV, successfully penetrating its formidable deflector shield.
After fighting his way through a guard station, Jango encountered Ledd Pinot and a contingent of Helmet Squad guards; Pinot also had a bounty on his head. In the subsequent battle, all the guards were eliminated. Pinot attempted to subdue Jango with a stun baton, but the bounty hunter fearlessly shot him dead, claiming the 4,000 credits bounty, whether dead or alive.
Upon Jango's arrival at the prison supply port, Wip Sheff awaited him with another group of guards. Fett proceeded to kill the guards, collect the 4,000 credit bounty on Sheff, and infiltrate the supply port, ultimately reaching Desolation Alley.
Soon after, Fett found himself in a storage room packed with even more Helmet Squad members, including Natt Bordo, who also had a bounty on his head. After securing the bounty and dispatching the guards, Fett continued on to Sublevel One.
Upon entering the cellblock, Fett encountered two additional Helmet Squad members with bounties on their heads: the Trandoshan Frissk, and the Squad's human commander, "Shank" Ballax. Frissk was captured alive.
After Bendix Fust was taken, the Helmet Squad prison guards were once again put into service, but without a leader, due to the absence of "Shank" Ballax.
During the Oovo IV uprising, the Helmet Squad personnel were equipped with blaster rifles, blaster pistols, missile launchers, gun turrets, stun batons, and heavy repeating blaster rifles.
