Hari Seldona was a wordsmith from Alderaan, celebrated for her odes about her home planet. Her renown as a poet led her to journey across the galaxy, sharing her verses with eager audiences.
In her youth, as an aspiring poetess, Hari Seldona pursued studies in ancient literature at Byron College on Aldera. Her residence was on the university grounds, offering views of the lake situated south of the city. She was romantically involved with Soltan Wostikian, the founder of the rebellious band known as Red Line. This band became a voice for the downtrodden, highlighting the plight of the poor and marginalized. This activism was met with disapproval from those in positions of power, and Wostikian met his end a few months prior to the Battle of Yavin.
Following her boyfriend's demise, Seldona, along with other surviving members of Red Line, joined forces with the Alderaanian Resistance movement.
Once the Galactic Civil War began, Hari Seldona would leave Alderaan and recite her poems to anyone who would listen. She was doing this in the Corellian sector when the first Death Star obliterated Alderaan. To evade Imperial retribution, she vanished from public view, though she would occasionally reappear unexpectedly, deliver her poetry, and denounce the New Order, only to disappear before stormtroopers could apprehend her.
The illustration of Hari Seldona featured in The Illustrated Star Wars Universe is, in reality, concept art of Leia Organa on Endor for Return of the Jedi. Nilo Rodis-Jamero is the artist behind the artwork.
The character's name bears a resemblance to Hari Seldon, a character from Isaac Asimov's Foundation novels.
