Mother Grotrugga was a Gamorrean leader of the Nuns of G'aav'aar'oon, notable for her connection to the Force. Seemingly a typical Gamorrean female, she possessed a motherly demeanor (despite being a 200-kilogram, tusked, pig-like alien), displaying kindness and a calm disposition. While fluent in Basic, her speech was characterized by unique idioms. When Imperial Scouts, disguised as Rebel operatives, arrived at their asteroid base on G'aav'aar'oon, Mother Grotrugga readily agreed to meet with them. Following the presentation of their fabricated Rebel Alliance ultimatum, which demanded the Nuns cede complete control of the base for military armament, Grotrugga firmly rejected these terms, having no intention of allowing the base to be rearmed.
Obeying their orders, the Imperials fatally shot Grotrugga, who surprisingly offered no resistance, seemingly anticipating the attack. Upon being struck by the fatal blow, she collapsed, and her clothing deflated as her physical form vanished. Accomplishing what few Jedi had achieved, she transformed into a Force ghost. The other Nuns, shocked by the assault, allowed the Scouts to quickly flee the asteroid. After regrouping, the Nuns attempted to block the asteroid's corridors to prevent the Imperials' escape. Grotrugga's voice, seemingly emanating from everywhere within the base, commanded the Nuns to cease their efforts and allow the Imperials to depart.
About an hour into their hyperspace journey, after the Imperials had departed on their ship, Grotrugga manifested as a Force ghost in the ship's lounge. She promptly reproached them for their actions, condemning their use of violence in a sacred place, the murder of innocent Nuns, their impersonation of enemies, and their service to "that awful Darth Vader." She warned them of the potential for corruption by the dark side if they remained careless, and informed them that she would be observing both them and her former convent.
Following her admonishment, she vanished and returned to the asteroid base on G'aav'aar'oon to inform her sisters that Imperials, not Rebels, were responsible for her murder. She continued to provide spiritual guidance to her successor and to rebuke the group of Imperial Scouts whenever they committed particularly reprehensible acts.
