Ginzet was a pirate of Saurton descent, and a member of the Des'maric Pirates during the time when the New Republic held dominion over the galaxy.
Ginzet was born on Essowyn, the homeworld of the Saurton, which is situated in the Trax sector of the Mid Rim. She served as a warrior for the Des'mar of Essowyn, working to undermine the Quenno faction. Despite their actions being illegal, Ginzet participated in several attacks against the Quenno alongside her fellow Saurton and close friend, Miktiss. After Miktiss was taken prisoner, members of the Saurton Council of Elders who were loyal to the Des'mar smuggled Miktiss away from the planet to prevent his execution. Ginzet was among the soldiers who were loyal enough to follow him into exile.
In 7 ABY, Miktiss and his followers established the Des'maric Pirates. He bestowed upon Ginzet the rank of lieutenant and one of three GAT-12 Skipray Blastboats called Des'maric One. The pirates quickly seized the Corellian Engineering Corporation Action IV transport Cekbar Servant, renaming the freighter the Asagov Raider. Despite forming an alliance with crime lord Crev Bombaasa, Miktiss was unaware that Ginzet, his seemingly loyal lieutenant, had secretly made her own arrangement. Having received a bribe, Ginzet plotted to assist Bombassa in seizing control of the organization and removing Miktiss from power.
