The Fluggrians were a sentient species native to the world of Ploo IV, characterized by yellow eyes and skin tones of green, purple, white, and pink. A notable member of this species was Elan Mak, a podracer who competed on Tatooine.
As a sentient species, Fluggrians possessed a distinctive physiology, including round torsos topped by bulbous heads. Their skin was generally green, and they had long, thin arms terminating in three-fingered, clawed hands. A unique feature was a row of spikes lining the underside of their forearms, extending from the elbow to the wrist. Similar protrusions adorned their foreheads. Beyond the green skin, Fluggrians displayed purple markings around their faces and had pink, full lips.
By the time the Invasion of Naboo occurred, Fluggrians had become part of the broader galactic society. At least one Fluggrian, specifically Elan Mak, chose the profession of podracing.
Originating from their homeworld, the Fluggrians eventually expanded their presence throughout the galaxy. One such Fluggrian, named Masakene, held the position of chief steward for Skarabda the Wise on Ballum during the era of the High Republic Era.
Elan Mak, a pilot of podracer vehicles, hailed from the planet known as Ploo IV. During the time of the Invasion of Naboo, Mak was present on Tatooine in order to participate in the Boonta Eve Classic race. Piloting a mainly white podracer, Mak managed to secure fifth place, even surpassing Sebulba, who was the favorite to win.

Terryl Whitlatch's conceptual artwork of a Fluggrian
The Fluggrians were originally conceived for the 1999 cinematic release, Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace. Conceptual artist Terryl Whitlatch was responsible for the species' overall design and appearance. Based on Whitlatch's artwork, a detailed sculpture was created. The species, represented by the character Elan Mak, appeared in the film as a completely computer-generated character, visible only briefly in distant shots of his podracer. A deleted scene featuring a more detailed digital Fluggrian was included in the film's DVD release.
