Plot summary

Rowan tries to warn Roger about Naare

Escape from Cloud City

Dengar makes his escape from a towering prison located on Cloud City, accomplishing this by forcefully removing the bars. Following this, he jumps into the open space below, employing his tattered clothing as a makeshift parachute. Dengar then seizes control of a cloud car, ejecting both the pilot and their passenger. Utilizing the cloud car, he goes back to retrieve Baash and Raam, who are in disagreement due to their fear of heights. Concurrently, aboard the Rancor's Fist, Graballa, the Hutt crime lord, presents his enhancements to his beachfront establishment to his relative, Jabba. Jabba remains unimpressed and labels it as uninteresting, despite Graballa's attempts to persuade him.

Graballa then seeks feedback from Yeppau, his Toydarian assistant, feeling that the situation could have unfolded more favorably. Yeppau responds with an affirmative "yep". At that moment, Dengar makes his entrance into the throne room, accompanied by Baash and Raam. Graballa inquires about their whereabouts, and Dengar criticizes his employer for ignoring his pleas for assistance while he and his companions were incarcerated. Graballa explains he was occupied, and Dengar then presents him with the Freemakers' contact information, identifying Rowan Freemaker as their target.

Job on Tatooine

Zander meets Ben Quadinaros

At the Freemaker Garage, Rowan expresses his reservations regarding Naare's activities to Roger. He elaborates that Naare asserts to be a Jedi, yet the Force-sensitive plant he discovered on Felucia perished upon her touch. He suspects she is being dishonest and suggests informing his sister, Kordi Freemaker, who is known for not tolerating falsehoods from Naare. However, Roger apologizes, stating that he automatically deactivated after not actively listening for twenty minutes and cannot recall their discussion.

Before Rowan can relay this information to Kordi, she appears to reprimand him for neglecting to hang the astromech motivators, resulting in a financial loss of credits that they can ill afford. When Kordi questions how Rowan intends to compensate, he admits his uncertainty and states that he cannot conjure a paying job out of thin air. At that precise moment, Zander Freemaker enters, informing his siblings of an enticing job opportunity. He initiates a hologram communication from Ben Quadinaros, the Toong podracer pilot, who is proposing to hire them to fix his damaged podracer. Ben is set to participate in a major race on Tatooine and offers substantial compensation. Kordi decides to accept the proposal.

Across the street, Naare is in communication with Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader via hologram. The Emperor requests an update on her mission to locate the Kyber Saber. Feigning difficulty in hearing her, the Emperor suggests she adjust her holoreceiver. However, Vader points out that they are unable to see her. As Naare attempts to adjust the hologram, the Emperor and Vader reveal they were playing a prank on her. The Emperor emphasizes that they are no longer interested in excuses but demand tangible results, urging her to retrieve the Kyber Saber immediately. Losing composure, Naare telekinetically throws objects around the room. Upon discovering the Freemakers' unnoticed departure, she expresses her rage, claiming she was merely releasing pent-up emotions.

Graballa's trap

The Freemakers run into Graballa and his cousin Jabba

In Mos Espa, Kordi voices her discontent with the oppressive heat as she works on Ben's podracer, accidentally getting oil splashed onto her face. Conversely, Zander is overjoyed to meet Ben Quadinaros and enters the area with Roger, who is carrying tools and equipment. Zander plans to fix the stabilizer, instructing Kordi to repair the heat dissipaters. Rowan attempts to speak with Kordi, but she apologizes for her earlier outburst at the shop. Before Rowan can share his concerns about Naare, Ben enters the garage, and Rowan greets him. Kordi is about to discuss payment with Ben when the Toong podracer pilot summons Graballa. At that point, Graballa enters the garage, accompanied by his enforcers Dengar, Baash, and Raam.

The Freemakers realize they have been deceived, and Graballa boasts that he manipulated Ben into luring them into a trap by threatening to break his antennae. He instructs Ben to leave while he deals with the Freemakers. Graballa questions Rowan about the whereabouts of the other kyber crystals. When Rowan refuses to cooperate, Dengar seizes him. Graballa presents Rowan with the option of resolving the matter easily or the "Hutt" way. Before Graballa can complete his interrogation, Jabba enters the garage, escorted by a contingent of Gamorrean guards. Jabba is displeased that Graballa is visiting Tatooine without his consent. Dengar is distracted by the presence of his acquaintance Boba Fett and releases Rowan.

The two bounty hunters reunite, with Fett teasing Dengar about his "bedsheet" head covering and his mother. Clone Fett tells Dengar that he is fortunate to have a mother. Observing the exchange, Rowan and Kordi devise a plan to escape using Ben's podracer. Meanwhile, Jabba employs the frozen carbonite form of Han Solo as a warning to Graballa about the consequences of crossing him. While Graballa informs Jabba that his dealings with Rowan are of no concern to him, Zander puts the finishing touches on Ben's podracer. With Graballa's attention diverted, the Freemakers discreetly escape in Ben's podracer. An enraged Graballa interrupts the conversation between Dengar, his associates, and Fett, alerting them to the Freemakers' escape. Dengar and his crew pursue them on speeder bikes.

The podrace

The Freemakers take part in the 29 Annual Bricklayers Classic

The Freemakers navigate their podracer through the streets of Mos Espa, with Zander complaining to Roger that he is obstructing his view. Roger manages to crouch behind the cockpit, while Kordi and Rowan cling to the machine's engine thrusters. While driving through the streets, they are chased by Dengar on his speeder bike. After some maneuvering, Zander hears the horn and decides to participate in the 29th Annual Bricklayers' Classic, which is being officiated by Fodesinbeed Annodue. The Freemakers and Dengar enter the race late and weave through the other podracers.

Roger alerts Zander that Dengar is closing in. During the race, Dengar fires his blaster at the Freemakers' podracer, damaging one of the engines. Kordi quickly repairs the damage. In a canyon, Dengar catches up and fires his stun blaster at Rowan, who ducks in time. The blast hits a Rodian pilot, causing his podracer to crash. Inside a tunnel, Kordi manages to jam his speeder bike, but Dengar seizes a blue podracer, ejecting the pilot. Meanwhile, the Freemakers advance to fourth place in the race, with Kordi narrowly avoiding falling onto the desert sands while attempting to repair the podracer. Kordi advises Zander to withdraw, but he insists on finishing the race despite their late start. On the way, they startle three pit droids.

During the second round, the Freemakers are pursued by Baash and Raam, who are riding speeder bikes. The two attempt to ram the Freemakers' podracer, but Zander accelerates the engines, causing the two bikes to collide. Dengar catches up in his hijacked blue podracer but narrowly avoids colliding with a green podracer piloted by a Gran racer. Dengar ends up leaping from several moving podracers. Graballa and Jabba watch footage of Dengar struggling, with Jabba using the opportunity to mock the incompetence of Graballa's bounty hunters. Graballa attempts to hire Boba Fett, but the bounty hunter declines to work for him.

The Freemakers then overtake several podracers, including the leading racer Ben Quadinaros. Dengar continues leaping from different podracers until he lands on the Freemakers' podracer. Rowan and Dengar fight on top of the right engine of their podracer. Kordi throws Rowan the stabilizer control, which he uses to hit Dengar, knocking him off the podracer. Zander points out too late that Kordi removed the stabilizer control. The Freemakers' podracer lists and collides with Ben's podracer, knocking him out of the race. After beating Quadinaros, the Freemakers win the race and Zander claims a silver trophy provided by Oola. Before the announcers can name them, the Freemakers flee the arena.

Siege at the sandcrawler

Graballa and his men pursue the Freemakers

An elated Zander accidentally crashes their podracer into the Dune Sea, destroying the craft. After regaining their composure, Roger's sensors detect a nearby shelter, which turns out to be a sandcrawler. Inside the sandcrawler, Kordi complains about the lack of food, water, and the absence of a means to return to the StarScavenger. Zander decides that they require a hero to rescue them. Zander and Kordi decide to seek Naare's assistance despite Rowan's objections. However, Zander decides to rewire Roger's transmission pack for long-distance communication. Roger attempts to dissuade Zander and suggests disguising themselves as Jawas. However, Zander is determined to call Naare.

Using Roger's modified transmission pack, Zander calls Naare for help. Back at the Wheel, Naare is examining her star map when she hears Zander's voice on the intercom. Kordi tells Naare to come and pick them up on Tatooine just as the sound of blaster shots ring. Zander and his siblings peer through the sandcrawler window to see Dengar, Graballa, Baash, and Raam along with an army of henchmen. Graballa tells the Freemakers to give up and that they are surrounded. While Graballa and Dengar argue about pronouncing Boba Fett's name, Kordi proposes to negotiate with the Hutt crime lord.

Graballa reiterates his demand for Rowan and threatens to blow them up. Meanwhile, Rowan and Zander find a box of thermal detonators. After Graballa's ultimatum elapses, Graballa apologises to Dengar, Baash, and Raam for hurting their feelings by trying to hire Fett due to their incompetence. Dengar and his associates lead the charge but are rebuffed by Zander's thermal detonators. Kordi also throws a few detonators at the gangsters, who assume defensive positions behind rocks. Graballa tells a Gotal henchman that next time he will offer Boba Fett double as an incentive. The Freemakers soon run out of detonators.

Naare to the rescue

Naare comes to the Freemakers' rescue

With the Freemakers out of ammunition, Graballa orders his men to move into the sandcrawler. Dengar uses his bandages to form an improvised rope and attempts to scale down into the sandcrawler. However, he is knocked to the ground by Naare's Eclipse Fighter. Naare then uses her ship to bomb and scatter Graballa's forces. Zander and Kordi cheer for Naare but Rowan does not trust her. After landing her fighter, Naare ignites her blue lightsaber and attacks Graballa's henchmen. Using her Force powers and lightsaber skills, Naare defeats them and hurls them aside. She also uses the Force to throw Dengar and the roof of the sandcrawler into the wilderness.

Rowan watches the skirmish and regrets not trusting Naare. Naare tells the Freemakers to flee to the Eclipse Fighter. However, Graballa and his henchmen have gotten back on their feet and he orders his men to capture the Freemakers. Dengar uses his bandages as a lasso to capture Kordi while Baash and Raam catch Zander. Several gangsters jump on Roger, who protest he is not a collectable. Rowan is about to help his family when Naare levitates him into her ship and tells him that she will handle it. Using her Force powers and lightsaber, Naare scatters Graballa's henchmen and frees the other Freemakers, who hide behind a rock,

The moment of truth

Meanwhile, Naare Force chokes Baash to Zander's bemusement. Zander admits feelings for her. Back in the Eclipse Fighter, while searching the ship for something he can use to help Naare, he discovers her crimson lightsaber. When suddenly, Rowan overhears a holomessage from Palpatine saying "if this Rowan kid isn't leading you to the crystals, then Sith up and slice up his family. That'll motivate him." Rowan realizes that Naare is a Sith while Zander and Kordi consider her to be a hero for saving them. Rowan hides his lightsaber as the Freemakers and Naare flee aboard the Eclipse Fighter.

Graballa angrily exclaims that the Freemakers are getting away for the third time and orders his men to the skiff to give chase. However, Naare blows up the skiff with her starfighter's laser cannons. Graballa is humiliated that he has to call Jabba to pick them up. Back at the Wheel, Roger carries the trophy while Kordi praises Naare for her combat moves. Zander and Kordi hug Naare while Rowan pretends to be happy. Naare uses the Force to push Kordi and Zander aside and talks to Rowan. She reminds him about the dangers of not traveling without her. While she is not looking, Rowan snatches Naare's Sith lightsaber and hides it behind his back.
