The Derf system existed within the Sluis sector of the Outer Rim Territories'. It had the same designation as the Derf Chapter belonging to the Max Rebo Fan Club.
This system named Derf was initially presented in the Online Companion on StarWars.com for the 2009 reference work, The Essential Atlas, authored by Jason Fry and Daniel Wallace. The Online Companion specified its location as grid coordinate M-19.
