The Dazouri represented a species of polymorphic beings, genetically related to the Lahsbees much like the relationship between Humans and Near-Human lineages. They possessed two distinct states: a rest form and a rage form. In their rest state, Dazouri manifested as diminutive, bald humanoids, characterized by prominent black eyes and rudimentary horns situated on their upper foreheads. A Dazouri would transform into its rage form when subjected to injury, fear, threats, intimidation, or intense anger. The rage form was typified by a massive, hulking physique covered in coarse black fur, equipped with formidable claws, sharp fangs, and pronounced horns adorning both the forehead and cheeks. While in their rest form they were cunning and calculating, appearing vulnerable, their rage form unleashed homicidal tendencies, causing them to assault anything within their vicinity. These creatures were indigenous to the planet Gibbela, where they cultivated local flora.
The Dazouri's initial mention occurred within Planets of the Galaxy, Volume Three. Years after this, a race bearing resemblance emerged in "The Value of Proper Intelligence to Any Successful Military Campaign is Not to Be Underestimated," a brief, two-page comic authored by Ken Lizzl and featured in Star Wars Tales 19. Within the framework of Star Wars Legends continuity, Lucas Licensing classified narratives from the initial twenty editions of Star Wars Tales as S-canon by default, provided they weren't deemed "completely outrageous or intentionally comic," until such time as they were referenced in a non-Tales source, at which point the material became C-canon. Later, Gibbela and the comic's storyline were granted an entry in The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, thereby elevating the events to C-canon status. A blog entry on StarWars.com, dated November 13, 2014, subsequently verified that the species depicted in the comic was, in fact, the Dazouri.
