Danaan Kerr, a Jedi Knight of the male Human species, existed in the closing period of the Galactic Republic. Following the Republic's demise and the ascent of Palpatine's New Order under the title of Emperor, Kerr succumbed to the influence of the dark side of the Force, ultimately losing his sanity.
A Force-sensitive male Human named Danaan Kerr gained entry to the Jedi Order during the final years of the Galactic Republic. By the time the Clone Wars erupted across the galaxy, Kerr had attained the rank of Jedi Knight. As the Great Jedi Purge unfolded, Darth Vader and the Emperor tracked Kerr down, but the two Sith observed that Kerr was already descending toward the dark side of the Force and allowed him to remain alive. Similar to other Dark Jedi, Palpatine regarded their mere existence as a service to the dark side, and thus, ultimately a service to himself.
After the Galactic Empire fell, Kerr established a residence on the planet of Rannon. Around 7 ABY, Kerr began to sense disturbances in the dark side and became convinced that Palpatine had successfully survived. Subsequently, he initiated a campaign of terror against the people of Rannon, recruiting and instructing new Force-sensitives in the ways of the dark side. It appeared that Kerr's power amplified after he detected the shift in the dark side, as the Valley of Ternaax, where he chose to reside, began to decay and corrupt in his presence. Reports of his evil actions propagated throughout the Bitrose, Hunnoverrs and Instrop sectors. These stories of a "deranged dark magician" came to the attention of General Airen Cracken, who compiled a dossier on him and placed a bounty of 15,000 credits on his head.
Kerr possessed significant skill, demonstrating proficiency in both lightsaber combat and a wide array of Force powers. He had the ability to control his pain, absorb and dissipate energy, detect life, and utilize telepathy and telekinesis. Furthermore, he had mastered more advanced Force techniques, such as telekinetic kill, farsight, transfer Force, and Force lightning.
Mike Jackson, the illustrator, drew inspiration for Kerr's image from Rob Deary, an uncredited model.
