City of Dreams

The City of Dreams was a utopian fantasy brought into existence entirely through the power of psychic energy, a feat accomplished by Cody Sunn-Childe. Sunn-Childe was formerly a celebrated hero of the Alliance to Restore the Republic who unlocked mystical abilities during the Galactic Civil War. After turning away from the conflict with the Galactic Empire and embracing a pacifist lifestyle, Sunn-Childe conjured the expansive City of Dreams within a self-created pocket dimension, residing there peacefully with his closest allies. However, following the accidental arrival of Rebels Lando Calrissian and Chewbacca in the City of Dreams in 3 ABY, Sunn-Childe's sanctuary was assaulted by an Imperial fleet, resulting in its total annihilation.

Description

The City of Dreams floats within its dimension.

This sprawling, utopian paradise, situated within its own distinct pocket dimension, the City of Dreams, along with everything it contained, was fashioned from pure psychic energy. It was a mental projection of Jashwik revolutionary Cody Sunn-Childe. The City of Dreams was perched atop what could only be described as an island floating through space, distinguished by its shimmering spires, lush gardens, and cathedral-like structures, all arranged with precise symmetry. While largely isolated from the external universe, the City of Dreams featured a sub-basement equipped with communications technology that intercepted sporadic Imperial transmissions, keeping Sunn-Childe informed about galactic events. These energy emissions were undetectable by the wider galaxy, as they consisted solely of psychic energy, lacking any physical substance.

The city was enveloped by a vast jungle, surrounding it on all sides, populated by formidable, humanoid creatures Sunn-Childe referred to as "monster-brothers." These monster-brothers were also reflections of Sunn-Childe's psyche, embodying the suppressed traumas and darkness within his soul. Sunn-Childe assumed the responsibility of containing these violent apparitions, drawing them into himself to prevent them from threatening the city.

History

Lando Calrissian, Chewbacca and Cody Sunn-Childe walk the City of Dreams.

During the early stages of the Galactic Civil War, Jashwik freedom fighter Cody Sunn-Childe rose to prominence as a key figure in the anti-Imperial resistance. He commanded a renowned Rebel unit that included his trusted second-in-command, Ansible Beelyard. However, following a particularly brutal engagement in 3 BBY, Sunn-Childe experienced a spiritual awakening that unlocked dormant mystical powers. Recommitting himself to a peaceful existence and rejecting the war, Sunn-Childe manifested the City of Dreams as an extension of his own consciousness, creating a perfect utopian environment for himself and his fellow soldiers.

Sunn-Childe and his comrades lived a secluded, tranquil life until 3 ABY, when a hyperdrive malfunction led Rebel heroes Lando Calrissian and Chewbacca to unexpectedly discover the City of Dreams. Recognizing Sunn-Childe from his past as a celebrated Rebel warrior, Calrissian questioned the Jashwik's pacifist beliefs, inadvertently drawing the attention of a passing Imperial fleet that detected the unusual dimensional anomaly. The fleet, under the command of Captain Plikk, initiated a bombardment of the City of Dreams, prompting Sunn-Childe to respond by summoning his monster-brothers to assault the ships. However, with the encouragement of his companions, Sunn-Childe reaffirmed his commitment to nonviolence at the critical moment, allowing the Imperials to obliterate the city and kill everyone within it.
