During the time of the Cold War that occurred between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire, a male Human named Cam Brell resided on Nal Hutta. Cam had an elder brother named Lew, who at one point was employed by the Hutt crime lord Suudaa Nem'ro within the industrial town called Jiguuna. Although Lew eventually departed from Nem'ro's gang, Cam chose to emulate his brother and also became a member of the gang. During a conflict between Nem'ro's forces and those belonging to a rival Hutt known as Voontara Fa'athra, Cam became frightened and attempted to desert, seeking to join Fa'athra's ranks. However, Cam was apprehended by Rex Geer, Nem'ro's street captain, and subsequently imprisoned for his betrayal. In an effort to help his brother leave the gang, Lew hired an individual aligned with the Empire, believing that they were simply being held back by Fa'athra's men. This individual arrived at Geer's residence, where Cam was being held, and discovered the situation. Geer, who recognized Lew, stated that Cam was to be presented before Nem'ro and offered to pay the individual to abandon Brell to his fate. To Cam's dismay, the individual accepted the offer and departed without him, ignoring his pleas.

During the Cold War that transpired between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire, Brell resided on Nal Hutta, which served as the adopted homeworld for the Hutt species. He lived alongside his older brother, Lew Brell, who was employed by a Hutt crime lord named Suudaa Nem'ro. Brell eventually left Nem'ro's gang, as he began to find the work overly violent. In the year 3643 BBY, Cam decided to emulate his brother and joined Nem'ro's gang, just as Lew had done previously. Cam found himself engaged in a battle alongside Nem'ro's men against a rival Hutt named Voontara Fa'athra in an industrial town on Hutta known as Jiguuna, which was under Nem'ro's control. However, Cam's courage faltered during the fighting, and he attempted to surrender and join the opposing forces. Geer, who served as the captain of Nem'ro's street gang, caught Cam in the act of switching sides and imprisoned him for his betrayal, intending to bring him before Nem'ro. While Cam was imprisoned, Lew began searching for someone to assist in rescuing his brother from the gang.
Lew located an individual aligned with the Empire in the Poison Pit cantina in Jiguuna, who was willing to aid him in saving Cam. The individual successfully fought their way through Fa'athra's men and arrived at Rex Geer's house, where Rex and Cam were holding up along with three other prisoners. The individual discovered Cam within a cage in the house and requested Rex to release him. Instead, the captain offered the individual credits to leave Cam in his custody and inform Lew that Cam had been killed in the fighting. To Cam's dismay, the individual accepted the offer and departed from Geer's house, returning to Lew at the cantina. As the individual left, Geer taunted Cam, who cried out and pleaded with the individual not to abandon him.
Cam Brell held his elder brother in high regard, enough to follow his career path and join Nem'ro's gang. However, within the gang, he proved to be less courageous than his brother, as he attempted to surrender and join the opposing force during a conflict with Fa'athra's thugs. When Rex Geer informed Cam that the individual Lew had sent to rescue him was abandoning him, Cam cried out in dismay, begging the individual for mercy.
Cam Brell made his initial appearance in the video game Star Wars: The Old Republic, which was released by BioWare in 2011. In the game, Brell is situated in the town of Jiguuna on the planet Nal Hutta, which serves as the starting location for players of the Bounty Hunter and Imperial Agent classes. Brell is involved in the quest "Gang Warfare," where his brother enlists the player's help to save him. Upon finding Cam, the player has the option to either abandon him to his fate in exchange for credits (dark side) or to rescue him (light side). This article assumes that players opted for the "dark side" choice and left Cam, as only players of the Imperial faction, specifically Imperial Agents and Bounty Hunters, can undertake this mission. If the player leaves Cam, upon returning to Lew, they can choose to either tell him the truth about abandoning Cam or claim that he was already dead when they arrived. Since neither of these options is associated with a specific alignment, this article does not make any assumptions about which one was chosen.
