Bibo incident

In the year 34 ABY, an event transpired on the Colossus platform, situated on Castilon. This occurred after Synara San salvaged a wrecked Z-95 Headhunter which inadvertently contained Bibo, a young rokkna. Neeku Vozo, upon first seeing the creature, immediately decided to adopt it, giving it the name Bibo. Unbeknownst to him, Bibo's mother, a massive adult rokkna with the potential to destroy the entire platform, was en route to the Colossus with the intention of retrieving her offspring.

Eila, a Force-sensitive girl concealing herself on the platform along with her brother Kel, had a premonition of the impending attack. She cautioned Vozo and Tamara Ryvora that the only means of safeguarding the platform was to return Bibo to the approaching rokkna. The Ace Squadron, along with Kazuda Xiono piloting the Fireball, struggled in their attempts to repel the mother rokkna. Vozo initially hesitated to relinquish Bibo, mistakenly believing that the mother intended to consume him. However, he eventually realized that the two creatures were of the same species. After Vozo returned Bibo to his mother, she departed peacefully.

Prelude

During the time of the Cold War, Resistance pilots Kazuda Xiono, accompanied by his mentor Poe Dameron, rescued the Mirialan pirate Synara San while on a mission to investigate a Darius G-class freighter. After earning the trust of Kaz and Team Fireball, Synara made her home on the Colossus platform, which was located on the aquatic world of Castilon. While employed as a salvager in the platform's loading docks, she secretly gathered intelligence for her leader, Kragan Gorr. Gorr commanded a pirate gang that was secretly in the employ of the First Order, an organization that sought to gain control of the Colossus.

One day, Synara recovered a wrecked Clone Wars–era Z-95 Headhunter from the depths below. Kaz and his friend Neeku Vozo paid a visit, hoping to acquire spare parts for Tamara Ryvora's starship, the Fireball. It was there that Neeku discovered a juvenile rokkna, immediately developing a fondness for it and adopting it, naming the creature Bibo. Neeku's new companion caused friction with the other members of Team Fireball, particularly his employer Jarek Yeager, who considered the creature smelly and problematic.

The incident

The approaching storm

Following an incident where Bibo created a mess at Jarek Yeager's Repair Station, Yeager instructed Neeku to get rid of the creature. Neeku responded by threatening to quit. Neeku was distressed when Bibo went missing and began searching the Colossus for him. Taking pity, Tam joined Neeku's search, guiding him to the engineering level, where the Chelidae resided, along with the human child refugees Kel and Eila, who had found Bibo and were caring for him. Eila informed Tam and Neeku that she had experienced a Force vision of something coming to retrieve Bibo.

Concurrently, Synara received information from Kragan revealing that her rescuers, Kaz and Poe, were affiliated with the Resistance. Synara then took Kaz out to sea on her salvage skiff in order to interrogate him. However, their conversation was interrupted by the emergence of a massive adult rokkna, which turned out to be Bibo's mother. The two managed to escape back to the Colossus before the sea monster could devour or crush them. Upon their return, Kaz and Synara alerted the inhabitants and sounded the alarms.

The leviathan's wrath

Bibo's mother proceeded to wrap her tentacles around the Colossus. Captain Imanuel Doza successfully sealed the shield doors before the rokkna could inflict further damage on the station. Subsequently, he deployed the station's Ace Squadron, comprised of Hype Fazon, Bo Keevil, Freya Fenris, Torra Doza, and Griff Halloran. The Aces' racers engaged Bibo's mother with their laser cannons, but their efforts failed to drive the creature away.

Kaz also joined the aerial battle in Tam's starship Fireball, but he too was unable to make a significant impact. In a desperate move, Captain Doza authorized Ace Squadron to deploy missiles, but even these proved ineffective in deterring the sea monster. Meanwhile, Tam and Neeku came to the realization that the monster had come for Bibo. Fearing that the monster intended to eat Bibo, Neeku initially refused to hand him over, but he relented after the creature made eye contact with Bibo. In addition, several residents including Jooks and Jace Rucklin urged Neeku to give up Bibo.

Reuniting mother and child

Taking a leap of faith, Neeku contacted Kaz via comlink and persuaded him and the other pilots to cease their attack. Neeku then carried Bibo to a platform where they encountered the rokkna. Bibo's mother created a bridge using one of her tentacles. After Bibo emitted adorable sounds, Neeku and Tam realized that the creature was Bibo's mother. Neeku bid farewell to Bibo, and the creature's mother departed peacefully.

Aftermath

Neeku was saddened by the necessity of returning his pet Bibo to its mother, but Tam offered him comfort. Later that evening, Kaz purchased a pet gorg named Lubo for Neeku, hoping to lift his spirits. However, Neeku mistook Lubo for food and consumed him.

Following the Bibo incident, Kaz repaired the Fireball. His improved mechanical skills impressed Tam, who had previously resented his presence and his use of her starship.
